 Nameth the book from which this cometh:

Have peace now, until the morning! Heed no nightly voices! For nothing passes door and window here save moonlight and starlight and the wind off the hill-top. Good night!

nutty

A meme:
The Daily Dirt
1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully in a ‘new’ & bigger house, less in debt. (Although if moving, I don’t see that happening ) Maybe pregnant again. Hopefully on the local school board, possibly in county office. By then in the beginnings of schooling Elijah
2. How about 10?
A couple of kids, a homeschooling mom, County office…
3. Any goals that you are still chasing?
Yes, several. As mentioned above, possibly some political offices, a more permanent house out of the city. Am going to start working towards my Web Development degree, maybe a Bachelor’s since I’ve already got the Associate’s down.
4. Any goals that you have quit on?
At one time, I was headed for the Youth Minister thing. Now, looking at it, I knew I was supposed to do it, and I did do it for a time there at ‘2ndbaptist.’ Now I guess that it’s not that I’ve quit on it (that time there was some of the best times of my life), it’s just that it’s not what I’m supposed to be doing anymore.
5. Are you already doing what you have planned for?
Married w/children - as far as that goes, yes. Planned to finish my Associate’s Degree, and I did that.

Another meme:
HomeWork
Think of the person keeping the cleanest, most organized house you know. How do they do it? What differs from their routine to yours? Do you think you could ever match them?
I have no stinking idea!!! I see these people’s houses and they’ve got more kids (and wild-childs) than me and I think, how the heck did they keep this house so clean? But then I think, well, maybe it’s not always this way.
I don’t know what about their routines differ from mine…
Match them? Heck no!

A question for you:
To all you mothers out there - I have a question, or two or three…
1. What foods did your babies eat first when they started to feed themselves? I don’t mean baby food from the jars, but stuff like finger foods, etc.
2. How much did they usually eat in one sitting when they were about a year old?
3. When did they start feeding themselves with utensils?

Thank you :D

awesome-ness!

Okay so some of this was originally included in my protected post, but I ended up restricting it to just one of the two things that was bothering me. :(

So yesterday, I was just so totally bummed out. I was paying bills and there is just not enough in the checking account to cover one of the bills. I will get it paid, and it’s not a priority bill, I just need to deposit some more money first. (I refuse to write a check and send it off if there is not absolutely enough money in the account, even if I’m only short $1 or something.)
So anyway, I was just a bit depressed because it’s like we just keep getting further into debt, and can’t seem to find our way out of it. All little things add up and before you know it, you owe $5,000 in credit card bills plus medical bills and mortgage, and all the other piddly crap, including things you probably don’t absolutely need (cell phone, Dish Network), but just can’t get rid of either because of a feel for necessity or contract rules.

SO I was crying. And I was praying. And I was standing in the kitchen. And I was saying, “God, just please help me figure this out.”
At that exact instant the phone rang.
It was the guy for the campaign of the website I just did (and am hosting on my reseller).
“Hey, what’s your address? We’d like to send you a check.” :!:
I don’t know how much the check’s going to be, and I don’t expect it to be a lot, but how freaking awesome is that? :-D I just know God was sitting up there laughing at me, I was being so silly.

I  God. He’s so much fun and knows just how to take care of me.

arg

Arg.
I need a new battery for my HP Jornada 568. And, as you will recall, when HP merged with Compaq, they quit making the Jornadas and only now make the IPAQs. So I just find out that my Jornada batteries are no longer available. Last I checked, they were.
This sucks though. I don’t hardly use the thing, but I was using the other day with my mom and it was only about a half an hour before I got battery low warnings. It used to last a long time, unless you were playing games or music or something.
So Steve told me to find out how much they are.
Yeah, I could look on Ebay, but that would be pointless because the reason my battery’s not working now is that it’s old. It was recommended to replace it after a year, it’s been almost 2 or 3 (I can’t remember if I got it in ‘01 or ‘02), so I guess it’s going to be shot soon.
& I guess that means that my Jornada, though it runs great and I have no real problems with it, is about to be absolute crap. :-(

Ugh, I don’t feel good today…

Dude! Did anyone out there know that in the Fellowship of the Ring, when Frodo leaves on his journey with the ring, he is actually 50 years old!? And that the time that Gandalf was gone from the leaving of Bilbo until when he returned to tell Frodo to head out was about 17 years?!
Nope, unless you read the book, I don’t think you knew that.

Holy Cow!! It’s actually 103.1 degrees Farhenheit outside now!!
No, wait for it… yeah, now it’s 103.5!!
Now, add all that to humidity!
They were calling for 97 degrees with a heat index of 110.
Tomorrow is supposed to be ten degrees cooler (top of 87), I hope, I hope, I hope…

“O, Cat.”

Well last night was one of my nights to go with Mom to the Muny (St. Louis Municipal Opera). We saw Cats. This was my, I believe, fourth or fifth time at the Muny, although I can really only remember last year and two other times right now.

I had never seen Cats before, didn’t even know what it was about, but I enjoyed it. I mean, if you like musicals and cats, it’s probably your thing. It wasn’t the best thing I’d ever seen, I probably enjoyed last year’s showing of Showboat more, but it was certainly good. Mostly it’s just song and dance, and there really isn’t much of a storyline. I still don’t understand this thing about “Jellicle” cats. But it was really cute, and, as always, a very well put-together show. The Muny people are just awesome when it comes to that. Makes me want to be involved - not in singing and dancing, of course, but I’m more saying, hey that lighting was cool, near smoke effect, etc.

Of course the singing was just awesome. There were a few numbers that I recognized, and a few more that I just really, really enjoyed. It’s just too bad that Gina won’t try out for the Muny Kids - she sings so well. But she refuses to even try and dance. (She won’t try out for American Idol, either, because “it’s not my type of music.” :P)

After church, we did the editing and such (btw, seems next week I am on my own, for directing and such. He said forget the editing, but all else is soley up to me… eek!) and I headed over to mom’s. I chilled there for a bit and then we left, got some supper on the way, and arrived at the Muny with a lot of time to spare. She wanted to get there early to make sure she got a good parking spot. We parked in the upper lot this time, we usually park in the lower lot, and it turned out not to be such a good idea, but it wasn’t real bad.

We pulled up some shade and ate our supper then headed down and fed the ducks. On the way down to feed the ducks, some woman behind me goes, “Excuse me, ma’am?” My first thought was #$%#. But that wasn’t the case.

Yeah, ducks don’t like guacamole doritoes. Of course, neither do I, I wouldn’t expect them to. The fish did, however; and the ducks liked the croutons. LOL that’s my mom for ya, bring chips and croutons for the ducks.

Then we headed up, ran into someone we know, then were able to get our seats.
Let me tell you, it was the most miserable heat out! I am not kidding, it was like today and just a few minutes ago, my outdoor thermometer said it was nearly 99 degrees out.

The show was good, but I was just sooooo miserable the WHOLE time because it was just so extremely hot. My jeans were actually burning my legs. So I was actually kind of relieved that it was over, but only because of the heat.

After the show, we left, and since it takes a half an hour at least to get out of the stupid Forest Park (the Central Park of St. Louis), and Mom wanted to go to Steak n Shake, we didn’t get back to her house until after 1am. So I arrived at my house just around 2 and crawled into bed. :D

Now Sheila & Sarah can have more ideas for cat names, haha: Continue reading ‘“O, Cat.”’

Suspect in String of Bank Holdups is Charged in the Latest Robbery
By Bill Bryan
Of the Post-Dispatch
07/04 & 05/2004

A man already on parole for a robbery conviction, who is suspected of holding up seven or more banks in the St. Louis area since May 15, was charged Sunday with the latest of those robberies, authorities said.

Dwight Fowler, 37, who police said has no permanent address, was charged with first-degree robbery in the holdup Saturday morning of the U.S. Bank at 8301 Gravois Road in Affton. A second suspect, Eugene Hampton, 40, of the 4700 block of Palm Street in St. Louis, also was charged with first-degree robbery. Police believe Hampton was the getaway driver.

Fowler and Hampton were arrested about 11:35 a.m. Saturday, about 20 minutes after the U.S. Bank robbery, due in part to observations by a bank employee, authorities said. The bank employee had gone outside to smoke a cigarette and saw the robber leave in a green minivan with gold hubcaps and gave that information to police.

Webster Groves police Officer _________ soon spotted such a vehicle in traffic and got behind it. After hearing a radio report, county police Officer John Wilson and Webster Groves Officer Tom Doering sat at the intersection of Laclede Station and Watson roads.

Within minutes, the van neared the intersection and all three officers stopped it and arrested Fowler and Hampton without incident, authorities said. An undisclosed sum of money taken from the bank was recovered, police said.

The FBI is involved in the investigation of Fowler, and federal charges are expected. Authorities said Sunday they do not not know whether Hampton was involved in any robberies besides Saturday’s.

In all seven robberies, the bandit wore no mask, gave the teller a note that he later retrieved, and indicated he had a weapon but never showed one. No weapon was found Saturday.

Of the string of robberies, five were in St. Louis and one each was in Clayton and Affton. No one was injured in any of them.

LOTR

mmmm… also forgot to mention the inspiration of “The Ring” style from the other day. I watched LOTR (Fellowship of the Ring) the other day for the 2nd time. Yeah, it had been a long time since I watched it the first time… LONG time. I admit I didn’t like it at first, but I liked each movie more and now I like the whole series a lot better since I saw them all.

I also just finished reading the Hobbit a few days ago. It was pretty slow going in the first part, but once I was about a sixth of the way in, when they were all caught by the goblins, it got much more interesting and pretty much remained that way until the end of the book. I agree with a lot of people out there - this one needs to be made into a movie as well. In fact, it should have been made into a movie before the other three were. It (for one who has seen the movies and not read the books) explains a lot more about who some of the people are, where they came from, how Bilbo got the ring, etc. So I enjoyed it.

Now I am reading the Fellowship of the Ring, although I am pretty much just a few pages past the prolouge. Everytime I try to read, someone interrupts me.

But I’ve discovered that I really enjoy the style of writing by J. R. R. Tolkien and I think that I might check out some of his other stuff when I finish the LOTR series.
I am borrowing the books from Elizabeth. She’s got some kind of collector’s set. What I don’t get is why she doesn’t have a regular set, too, it is like her to have two sets. Oh well, I just have to be extra extra careful with these and make sure Elijah doesn’t get them!

So anyway, maybe now you understand the whole LOTR kick I’ve been on lately. hehe
