A Child’s Love

Where there is a child, there is love. Children love honestly, truly, faithfully, and unconditionally. They love you with all of their hearts, souls, and minds, even if they themselves do not know why.
Here are some examples of a child’s love.

I miss you
My brother-in-law was in the hospital at the end of June 2004 for four days (three nights), two of my sisters-in-law spent a lot of time with me. The littlest one is Sarah, she was nine at the time. While at my house on his second day, she talked to him on the phone. I had asked her if she wanted to, as I was calling up there anyway, and she never would give me an answer. When I finished talking to him, I handed her the phone and left the room for a few minutes. I returned just in time to hear her say to him, “I miss you.”

A baby’s kisses
There’s nothing sweeter than a baby’s kisses. Maybe it’s because it comes from a baby or because they have not quite learned to make their lips give a “real” kiss, or maybe it’s because they love unconditionally. They love anyone who shows even the least bit of interest in them, and even sometimes those who do not.
I remember the first time my son gave me a kiss, he grabbed my face, pulled me to his open mouth, and pressed his mouth against my cheek and, “mmmmmm,” he said.
Then there was the first time he gave me a hug. I had changed his diaper first thing in the morning and stood him up on the changing table, he leaned forward throwing his arms around my neck and squeezed me tight, “ahhhhhhh,” he said.

Trust
Along with love, a child trusts. My little boy trusts me so much that after changing his diaper, I can stand back from the changing table about two feet and while holding my hands, he will still try to walk towards me. He does not care about the “canyon” between us, he knows I will not let him fall. All he thinks about is how he wants to be held by his Mommy, and that is all that matters.

So what have we learned today?
…who is the greatest? Except you become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom; whoever humbles as this little child, the same is greatest. And whoever receives one such little child, receives me. - based on Matthew 18:1-5.

it’s crazy

It’s absolutely crazy the amount of political ads we have received in the mail this past month.

Just the other day, we got four of them. Four!! And three of those are about the same guy, the other one about his competitor!

Of course, usually there is more of a variety of the candidates we receive by mail.

It is just crazy though.
I vote, and I take it seriously.
But I do my own research. Being on a mailing list, seeing a commercial on tv, hearing one on the radio, getting a phone call, or hearing some celebrity say they endorse “so-and-so” — I don’t care, it’s not going to change my vote any. And I honestly don’t know anyone who will change their vote because of those things. I’ve seen it, however, happen by word-of-mouth, friends telling friends who they’re voting for and why. But the rest of that, it’s just a waste of money.

Today we got two more.
I wish I’d been keeping these things instead of just throwing them all away — then I could see how many we’ve actually received !-)

Mission to Mars

I just finished watching Mission to Mars on the Sci-Fi channel a little bit ago.
If you haven’t seen it, basically the story line is that a group of four astronauts goes to Mars where three of them are soon killed by a mysterious being. Finding out about it, another group of four heads to try and find the one they believe might still be alive (also to find out what happened). Three of them arrive and they do find the guy and before long they all find out the “secret to life on Earth.”
The secret to life is *surprise, surprise* that some Martian took some of his DNA and sent it to Earth where it kept evolving into what we have today. Okay whatever.

just some photos of stuff

Well, I just finished some homework and figured that before I went off to get something to eat, I’d post some photos - you know, since I haven’t posted any in a while.

So here we have some things out of the “various” folder for 2004.

You shall see items from around the house (Elijah in his robe, in his high chair, playing with his car, the piano; Elijah’s birthday with Steve’s family), my friend V’s graduation party, M’s wedding shower (we took this photo because me, A [cousin], and L [friend] all turned out dressed alike - black shirts, khaki pants, black sandal shoes, then we threw my sister in there for good measure), and two of my favorites from the Life Chain a couple of weeks back. By the way, does anyone want to see more from the LifeChain? I thought I did pretty good that day, all things considering….

Now I am off for some ice cream, then I will be back (hopefully) to try and figure out how to implement a random photo feature into Nameless, as requested by Deng. (Probably won’t be released though, just an asked for addon.)

I just about had a heartattack.

For a second, I thought Jared was right. I just got this email: Continue reading ‘I just about had a heartattack.’

permission granted

I got an email this morning that, in a nutshell, read:

I am in the process of building a site for free… it is to replace the current site design at… I would like to know if I can use the whole or even part of an image… I would like to use the cross 2. Please let me know if I have permission to use this image. Many thanks, and great photos!

I was so excited I just emailed back a nearly immediate “yes.” :cute: Continue reading ‘permission granted’
