Two Days After Christmas

Okay, gonna wrap up the Christmas posts here…

But first, look what Chrissie made me. Thanks Chrissie, much love.

And from Sam

The day after Christmas we had church and it was almost like normal. They were still doing Christmas music but my job in the tv control room went on as usual.

Afterwards, we edited and were actually finished by 1pm - a new record!
Steve had headed to Home Depot and got that job site radio then he came back for me and we drove through Captain D’s for some lunch. We then proceeded to sit in the McDonald’s parking lot and eat it. :-D

We headed to my uncle’s and a trip that should have taken about 45 minutes took an hour and a half. This would be because Steve did not follow the directions that we were given, and because everything looked familiar to both of us, we kept going. We did a big circle and finally came back and followed the directions the right way. :hammered:

Of course, the directions were confusing to begin with.
Why do they name highways after letters? They told us to go “BB or is it B? to N or NN, whatever it is to O to blah blah blah blah blah.” Um yeah, not so bad except there are actually all four of those highways in the same county a B, BB, an N, and an NN!! This does not count the F and FF that are very close by that we were on in the first place. :yelling:

Well, anyway, I found it much easier to act like nothing was going on than I had originally thought. (read) No one said anything about the divorce, of course; but since I knew about it, it was kind of strange to be there and see them together and hear how they talked to each other (like a normal, happy couple). I just don’t understand.

Moving right along…

The “adults” had said they weren’t getting presents for this year, that they were going to play a gift certificate game. Steve and I didn’t get in on it because we never had a chance to get any, but everyone else did. But I gave out candles and ended up actually having enough for everyone to get two.

But E made out quite well… one of my aunt/uncle got him a Little People zoo set (an add-on one) that goes great with his farm from my grandparents, and another aunt/uncle got him a Little People school bus and a hot wheels set. So now as far as Little People go, he’s got a big barn, 5 people, at least 8 animals, a school bus, and tons of accessories. Good thing he likes them. He also got from that same aunt/uncle $5 in McD’s gift certificates and $10 cash. From the first aunt/uncle, Steve and I got $20 to Applebee’s. We are making good with the gift certificates this year, I can’t wait to use them and get even fatter. ;-)

The downlet of the day was not long before we were leaving. My cousin was leaving with his girlfriend (he is 19 or 20) and I hugged him and said bye to her and, “nice to meet you” totally not remembering that I met her on Thanksgiving. She said, “nice to meet you, too” and then my mom had to open her mouth and say to me something like, “you met her on Thanksgiving….” So that totally embarrassed me and I was like, “oh sorry, ever since I had him [points at Elijah] everything has been ‘whoosh’ [over my head]. Nice to see you again.” She was just laughing…
As we went into the other room to get our stuff together Steve was all, “well that was rude….” blah blah blah. I’m all shhshhing him and stuff and we went downstairs. It occurred to me later that my mom could have possibly heard him say that because the room we went into is not totally closed off, there are two windows from the kitchen (dining/living area) into there. I really hope she didn’t though. But that is bothering me — I don’t like to hurt anyone’s feelings. Especially since before we went into there and right after my cousin and his gf left, I said to her, in the nicest way possible, “thanks, mom, you embarrassed me.” So it’s not like she needed to hear anymore about it and feel worse.
Ah well…
