hmmm… what?
All screenshots and downloads concerning this theme are hereby removed from this site. If you really want it, it is available at Alex King‘s site… no one really downloaded it from here, anyway.
The theme is in need of a recode, I do believe I made some stupid decisions when I made it. But I don’t really have the time to do that right now, so it’s currently unsupported. Do with it what you will. ;-)
And here it is, the Stripes WordPress 1.5 theme. :-D
Since I may remove the ‘test’ weblog at any time, here are some screenshots (1024×768, Windows XP, FireFox) instead:

Screenshot 2
You can download Stripes here
Please comment here with any issues that arise. I actually could use some beta testers, just in case, although everything worked just fine for me on the tests (FF, IE, NS, O).
It is, of course, GPL.
Instructions: download, unzip, upload to folder named “stripes” in wp-content/themes activate/use from the presentation section of your admin.

Thanks for visiting my site. I noticed you use wordpress. I thought about it, but couldn’t figure out how to install it. Do you need your own server to do this, or is it a lot simpler than that? Thanks!

Hi! Yes, it is A LOT simpler than that. You just need to have the ability to use PHP and MySQL. You just set up your MySQL database then rename wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php and edit the inside of it to reflect the details about your MySQL database. Then upload all the files and go to your blog address /wp-admin/install.php and it should walk you through the rest. You can then configure it and start using it!
If you decide to go for it and run into problems, feel free to drop me an email!

That is a beautiful theme. I’m sure there are quite a few people who would love to display that theme proudly on their WP-powered weblog :) You’re talented.

Valerie, I am using this theme as a style switch on my blog and in IE the color of the background does not match the background color of the footer graphic or the sidebar graphic, just pointing this out for you…

:grr: Thanks, Adam. IE is ticking me off so bad right now… it’s rendering the pngs as a different color than what they actually are. It’s supposed to be B6B6B6 but instead is showing it as AEAEAE. I guess I can tell IE to use the background color of AE instead of B6 then, eh? Yeah I will try and do that tomorrow night or Monday (tomorrow’s quite a busy day for me and tonight I am ready for bed :D).
I’ll let you know…

Valerie:
Your Stripes theme is absolutely outstanding. i’m using on my recently update blog http://deep.mastersfamily.org slightly modified to make it a bit more personal, but I’ve left in full credit for your outstanding work.
However, I’m having one problem (and I’m sure its something stupid I’ve done during the modifications) with overall alignment. If you go to an “article” page, or a form page (most obvious on “email article”), it does not hold the alignment of the header graphic and body elements to the top? I find this problem in IE as well as FireFox.
I am hoping this is some simple fix, but not knowing much about CSS, I’m not sure how to handle this.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
John
