Something has got to be done… my images folder alone is over 63 megs… and here I am getting ready to add more photos. ;-)

Yesterday was such a nice day that I had the brilliant idea of going out with Elijah. So I piled him in the car about 12.30 and we headed off to McDonald’s. He loves McD’s fries (let’s not mention that it’s one of only two fast food places in our town).

Took him to the river to eat and we watched a barge go up river and the ferry boat struggle over the waves it left.

Then we went over to the local cemetery for a walk. Sounds corny, but a lot of people go there to walk, it’s a good size and has nice paved roads over most of it.
And since I love cemeteries, I thought I’d take some pictures of the statues and such.

That is one of my favorites. It was actually on a good sized gravestone. I really like how the sun gives her a halo of sorts.

Me and E outside the chapel. I’ve never been inside though, and didn’t go because I had the stroller and a loud boy who every time the birds chirped, tried to copy them. And I tell you what, it was like Alfred Hitchock’s The Birds out there! Thousands in the trees!

There were two angels like this outside the chapel. Looks quite distressed to me. Usually the statues are peaceful looking, unless maybe they are around a crucifixion scene – but these look quite upset about something. They remind me of the ones in that movie The Haunting.

I think these old iron crosses are so neat. It’s unfortunate, however, that most of them you can no longer read the text on them. And also unfortunate for me is that text that can be read around here is often in German. So if it’s hard to read text, I won’t even get it down right for translation. Oh well.

I also thought this statue was interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one quite like this. That’s obviously a woman and she’s holding on to a cross with cloth draped over it. Who is she? Jesus’ mother? Or maybe Mary Magdalene?

And this is what Elijah was doing while I was taking that previous photo – trying to bust loose. He was impressing me at first because he was tired but he was being such a good boy and he held on to his sippy cup for a long time. But just as I was marveling at how long he had been holding onto that cup without pitching it out, he did throw it out. While we were going downhill nonetheless. I got to chase it and then clean all the dirt off of it. :grr:

And here are some old, rich, dead Germans. Okay I don’t mean that in a bad way. ;-) These stones are old enough though that I think they were written in German and that whoever is there was probably well off. It’s a family area. I thought the perspective was cool for a photo though.

And now my favorite ’series’ of the day:

This statue almost blinded me as we walked up. It was really big and really stinking white, even down to the base. So white. It wasn’t that old either, a decent age. Really like that 2nd photo.

So after that we took another round and went through the much smaller Protestant part of the cemetery and then left for home. I think I got the most exercise trying to get the stroller back into the trunk of the car than I did walking around!

When I got home, I was literally shocked to find a big box outside my door. I was shocked for several reasons:
1. I was not expecting my wax to show up. Never got a shipping email like I usually do, so I didn’t plan on being home when it arrived, like I normally do.
2. It was sitting right in the blasted sun.
3. My UPS man is a good one, I never expected him to leave something out there like that.
4. That mean I had to carry it inside or have it continue to fry for several hours until Steve got home.
5. It looked like this:

[images removed, but trust me, it was bad. All taped up!]

So I, surprised by my own strength, was able to lift it and carry it inside without throwing my back out. I’m thinking that I guess the box busted and so UPS taped it back. I expected it to be all busted up inside, but then I opened it, and saw this:

Hello!! What the heck is all that!?
I figure that UPS busted the box and it fell all over their floor, getting it in dirt – dirt that does not want to wipe off, by the way – then not even caring what their customers think, they boxed it back up and said nothing, leaving it in the sun outside the house of someone who’s not even home. There is more than this one block like this, about a total of 15 lbs out of the 50.

I sat down and emailed the candle company about it. Scarcly had I done that and I heard a UPS truck pull up outside. My usual guy brought me the new scents, colors, and pouring pot.

I said, “were you here earlier?”
“No…why?”
“Because there was a box of wax” – he knows what I’m talking about – “outside the door, in the sun, with the box completely torn up.” I didn’t bother to mention the black stuff, I knew it wasn’t his fault.
“Oh well, there is another guy that runs this same area sometimes, I usually run [my street], but sometimes stuff gets put on his truck.”
“Oh, okay, well thank you!”
“Thanks, see ya.”

I had a reply soon after from the candle company telling me that I could return the wax and get a discount or whatever, not to use any discolored wax. But I thought about it and then emailed them back saying that it was not necessary – that I could probably just scrape it off, that it wasn’t that big of a deal and I know it’s not their fault, and I need to order more anyway – just that I don’t understand what’s up with UPS as the wax has been coming in more and more worse condition every time I order. The first time it came in nearly perfect, no breaks, nothing. So after several emails between the two of us they said that if I change my mind, to let them know, and maybe it would be better for me if when I order wax that I email with my order number and request that it’s shipped from their Chicago plant instead of their Pennsylvania one as it would be quicker and hopefully would come in better condition. So this morning I ordered three more cases and the nice lady put in the request for me.

I am grateful that this candle supply company is so great to work with and they’ve been really quick especially now that Christmas is over and their products are great. I remember when I first ordered, I was nervous because I didn’t know the company. I had gone over several companies I’d found before simply because their websites looked like crap and that made me really nervous. Oh yeah, these guys have the best prices I’ve seen anywhere so far, too! *happy customer*

So anyway that was my day, yesterday.
I am still waiting for my wicks to come in and until then, I’m at a standstill. Blah.

If you are still reading this, I’m proud… I’m afraid I’ve put everyone else to sleep talking about cemeteries and wax. Oh well, I’m one of a kind, what can I say?

Legally Blonde is on TBS right now (because Steve’s not here ). I’d never seen it before and I only watched the first hour before I got a bit bored and came down here to post. It’s not too bad though, I guess. It’s one of those movies I wouldn’t have ever watched if it hadn’t come on tv though. :tv:

Tomorrow late morning I get to go meet my friends C and K from college and we’re going to spend the day together doing stuff in St. Louis. Yay!
I’ve kept pretty good touch with C since college and we do things occassionally (she even left a comment here once) but I have only seen K in passing at Walmart once or twice since graduation and had limited email contact. So today I realized that it’s been almost four years since I’ve really seen her! As C said in our ‘three-way’ emails, “we have years to catch up on”!
So yeah, this will be fun!

Oh yeah, the title? That was my fortune at the local Chinese restaurant tonight. ;-)
