if you want some cheap new carpet, you should get to Lowe’s before Sunday
Yup. Most definitely.
I am so excited, we are finally getting some new carpet!
So on Saturday, the Lowe’s paper came with the rest of the mail. Going through it, Steve found two different kinds of Berber carpet that were listed as being only 45ยข a square foot!
I said it had to be a misprint. It just had to be.
Sunday he went to Lowe’s while I was editing the day’s production. When I called him to come get me, he said it was indeed a misprint, but that they have to honor it because of that truth in advertising stuff. That blew me away because almost every time I go in that store where I get jars there are signs that say that such and such in the paper was a misprint, here’s the actual price, or here’s the actual intended item.
So we went for it.
12′x37′ of berber carpet for only $214.something. That will cover our living room (11′x17′) and the sitting room (<11′x8′) and Elijah’s room (11′x<12′), the whole front of the house. Yes, I’ve told you before we have a small house. The door way between the sitting room and the living room is going to be ripped out though, just like Steve did to the place between the living and dining room.
So YAY!
I know it’s not the world’s prettiest carpet but I do like Berber, and that’s what I wanted anyway and it’s certainly better than anything we’ve got now! We actually don’t have any carpet in the living room at all - the floor is wood and originally we were going to re-do it and make it nice, but we’ve decided that it would be a waste of our time because it’s just not in great condition anymore. And I have decided that I want carpet anyway.
I will take pictures when we’re putting it in, of course, but that might be a while. First we have to clean out the sitting room (you have a junk drawer, I have a junk room) and tear up those walls and he said something about three of the seven windows in there coming out and he also said something about repainting the sitting room and living room. Our paint in there sucks. I can’t clean marks off the walls because it takes the friggin paint off! So yeah, lots to do before this stuff goes down. It also means that the front of the house is getting a bit makeover in the way of where furniture is going. I have got to be the only wife who says, “oh well, let him do what he wants” about the house because he’s got all these crazy ideas about where to put stuff and I’m just all, “whatever, let’s just get it done.”
So I sit here and wonder where we will put this huge roll of carpet when it comes. You know, because I know we won’t have the rooms finished… especially not when Steve’s off gallivanting around putting in other people’s furnaces in the evenings and such…
