Oh yes, I never did mention that yesterday (Monday the 28th) was Steve’s birthday, did I? Hehe, whoops. It kinda passed us by, too.
Sunday night he said to me, “you didn’t get me anything, did you?”
“I got you a card.” I actually bought it like a month ago, I picked it up by accident when looking for something for his mom and just loved it. And that’s where the title for this entry comes from, too.
“Okay, good,” he said, “don’t you dare get me anything tomorrow. Okay?”
Um, okay sure.
He did have a cake at my mom’s though, on Easter Sunday, it was a half sheet cake split into two (chocolate and vanilla) and one half said “Happy Easter” and the other said “Happy Birthday Steve.”
It was quite a funny looking thing. ;-)
Mom always gets the hugest cakes and hardly anyone eats them… but my dad. And it’s SO not fair because he’s still so skinny. And Mom’s on Atkin’s so she never eats any. Steve doesn’t even like cake too much! I eat a piece but refuse to take any more home with me. So yeah, it’s all left to dad and my brother…
So happy 28th to my old man. :D
Reminds me also that I should possibly post about Easter day, but nothing much out of the ordinary happened. I did my usual Sunday stuff, we had some strange and out of the normal edits, but then we headed to my mom’s and met with my dad’s family (or those of them that live nearby) and just had a relaxing afternoon.
Until my mom turned on Scary Movie 3, that is.
She’s so funny sometimes, I swear. I would have never been allowed to watch that had it come out when I was my bro & sis’s age! Let alone her showing it at a family gathering! :lmao:
But it was nice to see my other (older of the two, yet still younger than me) brother and my sister-in-law. I lent her all the maternity clothes I have, which isn’t much because I borrowed most from my friends K and E, and as she put it, “a library” of books on pregnancy and babies.
If this kid’s a boy, his name will be Shannen. Steve hopes it’s a girl. Poor kid. And to think, my brother actually picked that out - he surprises me sometimes. My sister-in-law doesn’t even like it, but she gets to pick the girl name, so we’ll see what happens!
Anyway, for Steve’s actual birthday, I snuck his card into his lunch bucket, hehe, and then we spent the evening working on that junk room, cleaning it up. As of tonight we are almost done! Er, I think…
Remember that old wallpaper that we found when he tore up the wall between the living and dining areas?
Apparently it’s in this room, too! And it appears that there might be some more old wallpaper, blue stuff, over that. This is a strange room. It’s not as old as the rest of the house, it’s an addition, and it’s quite tiny. Too small to be much of anything other than a SMALL office or a reading room or something. So apparently there’s the wallpaper and over that there’s this wall board stuff with ugly peeling wallpaper. I’d take pictures if it wasn’t so embarrassing. :D And the ceiling is… painted or plastered or something. All that’s coming out, too and drywall will go up there. Then he’s tearing out all the wall he can and three of the seven windows (the three facing the neighbor), and of course, that means out goes the door. Basically opening it up to join the living room. Sometimes he has strange ideas, but whatever.
Maybe I will take a photo once all the junk is out of there, just to have a before photo…
I just want to get this done - there is stuff everywhere! (But at least the couch is now free to sit on again, in fact, there’s a sleeping husband on it right now, I must go slap him and tell him to go to bed.) But I think that most of the stuff will be easliy stored in the basement, once I do a bit more organizing.
I had NO IDEA JUST HOW MANY PHOTOS I HAVE!!!!! I have boxes and boxes and boxes and I don’t even know what’s in them anymore!! AHHHHHH!!!! By looking at my sites you’d think I’d be organized (or at least I’ve been told I am). Not, I hate organizing. Grrr…
They are now on the newly-cleaned-off shelves that are along the steps to the basement. (Another afterthought - apparently the room I’m in now was once the back porch and the basement was accessed by outdoor cellar doors, you can still see where they once were.)
And that’s not even all the photos, just the bulk of them. I think I have another banker’s box upstairs and I believe that somewhere in this room I have some more from 2004. Then there’s a stack I have sitting out that I want to eventually get back into scrapbooking with.
So today I was glued to the computer almost all day working on a web design project and a couple of other piddly things. Of course, it seemed that I got up every two minutes to do something for or check on Elijah. :cute: In the early evening I quit for the day, and then later played with Elijah in his room while Steve was gone.
Now, tell me, is there really truly anything cuter than this little guy running around in camo, snotty nose and all? Nope, I didn’t think so. :cute:
