well… it’s a good thing I made the whole box…

I made spaghetti for supper last night. The secret’s in the sauce, I tell you. Add that oregano to the meat while it’s cooking before it ever sees anything from a tomato. Dang good, I tell ya.

Steve came in and asked what we were having for supper and when I said spaghetti, he said, “Whoohoo!!” So I figure it’s pretty good.

Unfortunately though, he later succeeded in dumping his whole plate down here on the lower room floor. Boy, was he mad! It was a good thing I made the whole box!

Oh and of course the dog went nuts!

I never actually used a fork on the floor… until then, that is. Scooped it up so that the dog wouldn’t eat all of it because knowing him it would come right back up on my couch later. Better the lower room floor than the couch, I always say.

In other news, housewise…

We got a new screen door on Tuesday night. Steve went and got one at the same store where we get my jars for only - only - only $30! And it’s a good door, too! Nice handles, has glass and a screen all the time. Our previous door had one or the other, you’d switch panels in the top part. Couple of winters ago, the glass just fell out and broke everywhere. Another reason I never go outside without shoes - that glass had the strangest way of showing up months later. I guess it would get stuck in the concrete cracks of the patio and eventually get washed back up. So now, I can just open the glass like a normal window, I’m totally loving that! It’s just going to take a bit to get used to, I keep getting “locked” inside - instead of pushing the handle, I now have to turn it. Oh, but it also has a lock on it, so that’s a good thing considering Elijah’s starting to not only be tall enough but smart/strong enough to open doors.

Also housewise, Steve’s still working on the sitting room. He’s off work on Monday so he’s going to take all the junk he pulled out of there to the trash people. By junk I mean old drywall, plaster, wallboard, probably the old ceiling fan. That room is NASTY. We had NO idea what it was like behind the wallboard and above the ceiling. Warning, these photos are gross. Viewer discretion advised.

Oh, and of course, every time you remodel something, it seems like you find something:

Yup, all of that was in the ceiling!! How it got there, Steve has no idea.

You see, we’ve been told that the people who owned this house before the guy who owned it before us had seven kids. Seven freaking kids in this house! I, for one, want to know where they put them all! This is really a small house, I think the guy with the seven kids is the one who added on the sitting room (both it and the lower room are obviously add-ons). I’m going to have to track him down and give him a good shaking. Especially since he’s probably also the one who added insulation to the house by cutting holes in the freaking siding and spraying it in and then putting these plugs in there. They are sooooooo obvious. Yeah, we need new siding. And a new roof (soon). And… well, lots more. :D Shall I hold out my hand for donations? ;-)

Actually, there’s something else I need to post about (and will later) that we are “crossing fingers” that it comes soon and if it does… ah, won’t life and remodeling be easier? ;-)

Now, I am off to dye my hair… :cute:

Awl, poor Steve. I would have been mad if food I liked got dumped on the floor too, but never fear Valerie is here! Sauce is the best part, I’d rather just eat that. Spaghetti, bleh. That room kind of reminds me of my cabin in Maine, but the whole place is basically falling apart. We’ll need to rebuild soon I assume. Everything is caving in, and it seems like the house gets lower every year and is tilting. I can’t even describe all that’s wrong with it, but I love it! :D Heh anyway good luck with all of the work you guys are doing. That’s cool about your door! That’s inexpensive, and that’s good you like it! It takes getting used to that’s for sure. Even though I’ve had both a screen and glass door for I don’t know how long I still screw up, usually it involves me running through/into the door. Hah! Maybe that’s a sign I should get out more. :o Heh, new toys for Elijah! Happy Birthday! :P That cowboy thing looks cool. It’s funny you found it in the ceiling! :) Yep having now insulation would definitely make for wonky Summers and Winters. Anyhoo, have fun dying your hair! What color are you going for? ;)
