It's a sad story indeed, but it seems like it is needed that they're told! There are still a lot of people getting behind the wheel drunk or on drugs - there are many deaths because of it, all over the world. We need to keep telling these stories! Drinking and driving must be kept apart!!

Thanks for sharing.

That is really sad. Poor kid, he sounds like a really good kid the way you described him, and the things he did for other people. It’s so upsetting it happened so close to Christmas too, I really hate to see innocents getting hurt or losing their lives, it’s just not right at all. He seems like he was such a giving person, I can’t believe his life just ended like that. It’s so incredibly wrong and stupid that people drink and drive. I can’t really comment on the drunk driver, having not seen her myself. She seems aware of what she has done and what she did to me though. It seems like her husband really couldn’t care less, her sister seems the same way. Christine’s story is very dramatic as well, and I’m very sorry that happened! I can’t even fathom it. It may sound harsh but people have to live with what they do and there are consequences. That girl should have had the sense not to ride with someone that was drunk and not to drink herself, especially since they were both underage. You can never take anything back. So yes, drinking and driving is so dumb and such a big stupid risk. I don’t like alcohol just as it is. It always has negative effects and I hate seeing drunk people and how they act. Driving now a days it just plain scary. I don’t think I ever want to.

I was hit by an underage drunk driver 4 years ago on my way home from seeing my friends race out at the speedway. It was about 1:30am on a Sunday morning. The speed limit was 55, I was going 55/56 (my speed thing was stuck in that position after I got hit) and he was going well over 70 (he told this to the police afterward). My light was green and his was red and he made a left turn in front of me. I didn't even have time to break. I remember honking my horn and then a few minutes later I came to and thought "what happened to the music?". I didn't remember I was hit until I tried to get out of my SUV. Almost the entire front of my vehicle was torn off. The hood was 40 feet away and my SUV was now on a side street. The police later told me that by the marks on the road they figured my vehicle spun at least 7 times before coming to a stop. The back of my head was spilt open from top to bottom and my front from neck to waist was bruised from the airbag. The drunk driver didn't have a scratch on him. His girlfriend who was also underage (16) and drunk had to be cut out of the car by firemen. She died not even a day later. This happened on Easter 2001 and on every Easter I think of that poor girl. The drunk driver of course had no insurance, out of date tags, and the car he was driving was his dad's who was here illegally from Mexico. He has to live with the fact for the rest of his life (most of it in jail) that he killed his girlfriend just for his love of alcohol. I cannot stand alcohol. I didn't like it before that happened but I really detest it now. I know I ranted about this very thing not to long ago on my site so I won't keep going on but yeah...DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!
