hmmm… what?
Of Destruction…
Now, tell me, are all children this destructive, or is it just little boys? Tonight, E ripped half his door off the wall. Yes, I kid you not. That kid has some muscles for a 22-month-old!
Okay, so it was easier than it sounds. He was trying to close the door, but it can’t close because the baby gate is in the doorway. So he just kept pushing and pushing and finally the bottom hinge came off the door.
I walked by, talking to Steve who was right behind me, and I stopped dead, “LOOK!!” Steve first kind of laughed but was later a bit angry. Then I look at E, who’s standing right there, “EEK!” He had two screws, one in each hand. He actually gave them to Steve though when he held out his hand for them. But then Steve said, “Okay there should be three, where’s the other one? You’re not eating these, are you?” Thankfully, I found it on the floor outside his room a minute later.
Of course, E then had to cry while Steve used the drill to put the door back together, this time with a three inch long screw… :)
Of Construction
The only reason Steve’s drill was so handy for the above incident is because he’s been busy working on the sitting room all evening. He got home and got right to work, I was amazed. Maybe it’s because it’s such a nice day and it’s not unbearable to be in the room with no insulation or AC right now.
So he completely removed one of the windows that’s coming out and partially for the others. He has then reinforced the walls with some boards and is currently off getting some of his plywood to cover up where the one window went.
He says next he needs to fix the roof, it’s apparently older than the roof on the rest of the house; and take out the two remaining windows on that end; then I believe will come the finishing phase: drywall and etc. Somewhere in there, the two walls and the doorway to the rest of the house will come out and we will eventually end up with one room instead of two (sitting room and living room).
I am anxious to get this done, I want to get my new carpet laid down!
Remodeling sucks!
I'm Valerie, late 20's, from Missouri. I'm married... with children: a young boy and a baby girl. I enjoy many things including photography, candle making, videography, history, and mythology. Baby Girl was born 11 weeks early after my water was broken for 8 weeks - she's my little miracle - so you're bound to hear a lot about her progress here. I am also a second generation homeschooler, that's bound to come up as well.

Wow! You got someone to wrestle with there…. ;) Kids are so strong!! Even when they are tiny, I guess I’m not the only one having had them hanging in my hair :)
Ah, seems like Steve really is working for you to lay down that carpet! Looking forward to new pictures ;)

Heehee, most of our house needs to be remodeled! However, with having Elijah and the past two and a half years, well, we just haven’t been working on it much. While it’s mostly finished, it also needs a lot of updating. We also need new siding, eventually, and new roofing. We’ve done little by little over the past five years, but there’s still lots to be done. It sucks, really.
And Elijah – no I don’t think there is!! Have I mentioned that the wall of his crib that moves up and down is officially broken as well? ;-)
