Well, we do have central air but the only vent upstairs isn't too effective... it's in the freaking closet. Granted, the closet's a good size, and we don't put a door on it, but it still doesn't do too much good. So we have that window unit (also in the closet) so that the air can travel across the length of the room. I just think the whole house isn't insulated all that well, though... No big dogs for me, either. The first year or so we were married we had a good sized dog - his grandmother was an Austrian shepherd, so about that size. He was such a friggin' wimp though! He used to bark at everything and whine like crazy. He tore up our yard because we had to keep him chained, so finally he had to go bye-bye.
