hmmm… what?
Cingular has always managed to annoy me in some way or another. For instance…
I was one week from turning 18 and they still wouldn’t let me sign up for a phone. Steve signed me up one under his name. Yes, this was before we were engaged.
In the first year we were married, or so, they used to constantly charge us for roaming calls… these were calls we’d made in our own freaking house. Every month Steve was calling and having them removing these charges.
On one trip to Mississippi, our phone literally stopped working the second we crossed the Arkansas state line. It wouldn’t work at all through that state. It did, however, work in Mississippi.
When our contract ran out they failed to notify us and defaulted us to a new plan. This plan sucked royally it was $20 for 17 minutes. We got a bill and freaked out, wondering how in the heck we could have gone that much over our minutes. It would have been nice to have been notified of this change, of course, why change it at all, why not keep us at our same plan we’d had while on contract?
So we got rid of Cingular and went with ATT. They then decided they were going to become Cingular and we are back to crap service again. I am so stinking fed up with this cell phone. Ever since the little ATT Wireless at the top of my screen changed to Cingular, things have been horrible…
– Calls are dropped for no reason at all – I still have a signal, the other party says they still had a signal, or they’re on a land line.
– The service used to be all right in our house, now it stinks. The best place for a signal was here at the computer where I could get two or three bars. Now I rarely get one in any part of the house. And that’s just stupid, of course.
– It goes to voice mail sometimes for no reason at all – when the phone is on and I have a great signal… It never rings when it does this.
– I don’t get my voice mail or text messages sometimes until days later. Or, for instance, this past Sunday… I turned on the phone after I was done editing thinking maybe Steve had called since he was away for the weekend. After a minute or so, it notified me of voice mail. I checked in to find four unheard messages. There was one from my mom that morning that apprently spurred me being notified, one from my brother a week and a day earlier that he’d said he’d left but I had to say I never got it, one from my mom a week and two days earlier that I’d never gotten, and one from Sheila two weeks ago on the 15th.
Now is that not stupid? For as much money as I pay for this stupid cell phone, more than my land line, I want it to freaking work!
Anyone else having Cingular problems?
Next chance I get I am going to go in the closest store and complain my butt off. They can either take care of things or shove the phone… eh, okay… I wonder how Nextel is? Supposedly they were getting service in our area last summer…
Oh, yeah, and to top it all off, for me to call my cell phone from my house is long distance!

Oh yes. Change that cell plan! I use Sprint, ang assuming you use 300+ minutes a month, they’re pretty decent plans.

We had a compan in the uk, it was like cingular, except it was called one2one, which later became one2no-one, nowhere could you get a signal.
I suppose it’s a bit different in the USA, it’s so huge, as opposed to our rainy little island (you can tell I don’t work for the tourist board – lol), I use O2, and they’re fantastic, never had a problem – touch wood. They don’t have an American arm, I’m afraid :(

I would be LIVID. I’d threaten to contact BBB (better business bureau).
We have had no probs with Sprint (knock on wood x 3). In fact, we have 2 phones, and dh and I can call each other limitless.
Also, remember when I blogged about when dh’s phone got wet after jumping into the water to save someone? It was working fine until this week; now the screens are blank most of the time. Well, he took it in, they tried to fix it, it stopped working again, and Friday he’s getting a FREE replacement phone.

My corporation switched from verizon to Cingular/AT&T, I have the same problem with drop calls and no service. I read yesterday that the GSM network (Cingular) that during the Florida Hurricanes (I live in Orlando) lost service. There were only two providers that stayed up Verizon & Sprint. I took my SIM card out of my Motorala V551 and installed into an old AT&T phone which seems to have a better reception. Who Knows?

Cingular is the worst company on earth , they overbill me every single month and when you call noone can ever help you and not only that they can never transfer you to anyone who can help you. They will out and out lie and say they have credited your account and then when you get your next bill , well guess what no credit ??? This is the worst company I have ever delt with i hope I can save one person from the nightmare of being under contract with CINGULAR they should be shutdown by the FCC

I have had more problems with cingular than I know what to do with. I like most everyone else have had the billing, service and dropped calls. I however have had a problem that I have not seen from anyone else yet. We got our phones the night before A T &T became Cingular. The man who sold them to us said we came in at the best time because we were going to get so muuch better coverage. Well that was a joke. We have a place in the mountians that when we were with AT&T we could call out now with cingular we can’t even get a signal. However the man that has a place across the road from us also has Cingular with the same phone also. We can stand side by side and He can call out I do not get a signal. When I called about this problem I was told that there were steps to fix this so I did all of that and you geussed it that didn’t work. So I went to the store were I got the phone They looked at it and said that it was most likely becauseI had a AT&T phone. He handed be back my phone and said oh well. So I called the company again told them all of this and was told that they were not responsible for what the stores sell. So I plan to file a complant with the FCC and I think everyone who has a problem should do the same and better yet we should all do it at the same time like maybe after Thanksgiving so that they have to deal with Cingular. Also I think maybe a class action law suit is in order.

I work for Cingular and use Verizon, they have never screwed me over. My ONLY complaint about them is their Downtown Portland store takes FOREVER to help me with anything. Cingular is for suckers anyway.

I live in Charlotte, NC – Cingular’s world headquarters. Almost every call I make drops. In this major metropolitan area there are at least 20 dead spots with no signal. It is worse when driving from city to city. One “service” rep told me that the service will not work reliably in major metropolitan areas. Another told me it will not work in the country. Of course it does not work at all in my house. I told Cingular that they were not upholding their end of the contract and I wanted out. They said to get out of the contract I had to make a ‘trouble call’ describing my problem in detail, and I would hear from a rep within 3 days. I held for 30 minutes, during which time I dropped my call 3 times and gave the supervisor a list of 25 places that I routinely drop calls. This was a month ago. I have still not heard back. My next stop is the FCC and the FTC. Also I plan to collect names of people to initiate a class action suit agains cingular. Anyone with me?

I had two years contract with Cingular wireless and it would be end on 8/10/06. On 8/8/06, I called to Cingular for two reasons, I had double charges on my credit statement (I had auto pay bill online with cingular account) and I wanted to terminate my service after two years contract (I had a year contract with AT&T before this two years contract). The customer rep. told me to call to financial dept. for double charges. For termination of service, she would handle that and I would have zero balance. I was fine with her but I was told to call to billing dept. to get reimburse one of those double charges. That woman who answered my call was very rude and refused to refund and refused to acknowledge I had double charges. She even cut off the line! I never received any explaination why I was charged twice or why I could not get refund. I called to my credit card company and filed a claim. Today, 9/15/06, I received a bill from Cingular dated 9/7/06 that I owed $36.26 for “early termination fees.” I called to Cingular again and I was told there was no early termination fees but I owed over $46 for late fees, insufficient fund fees, other fees I have never heard of or never informed of. I had more than sufficient with that credit card. I checked with customer service rep. before termination and I had automatic payment with my credit for each month’s bill. I paid a month ahead for each month since I had AT&T (later changed to Cingular) since August 10, 2003. I was never late for any payment because Cingular (AT&T before) automatially charged to my account. When I called to terminate my service, I was asked several questions why I did not want a new contract with Cingular. I was charged twice for the same bill and very upset. Then, my call to billing woman was cut off. Now, I received several charges because she hate me! When I call Cingular today for a $36.26 over charged, they over charged me again for another $46. Please help consumers who pay bill on-time regularly from those agressive service providers like Cingular by threatening me to investigate by collection services if I don’t pay whatever they charged me with variety of hate charges just because I did not continue my service.

ok, i have worked for Cingular Wireless, Now the New AT & T and have really enjoyed it. I can admit-some representatives are dumb as hell!!!! I have always been very nice to my customers and respectful.
Anyways, the company has started what they call ‘post call surveys’ which are done @ random and the customer has the option to complete them after they get off the line w/ the representative. The scores are 1-5 which 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. Well, i have a personal individual account w/ 9 lines and spend about $750-$1000 month on the bill. I called back on 3/13/2007 to change one of the numbers because the user was moving to a different state. The representative said she was going to charge $36 to change the phone number. I disputed that fact and she transferred to someone else without informing me. After the call I did the survey and gave the previous representative all ’1′s.’ Well, today I was called into my managers office because the post call survey results came back to her, and they showed that I was an employee. My manager stated that I should have came to them to escalate and complain about the representative instead of giving ‘the company’ a low score. Needless to say i was pissed. I understand that i work for the company, but I am also a consumer. She said that ‘Cingular’ prefers for us not to do the surveys. My response to her was, ‘ as long as i am a consumer w/ 9 lines and pays good money each month that i will do the post call survey @ every chance I am given. She did not seem to like the response, but oh well. I will be quitting in Mid April anyways to continue w/ my education. Cingular Wireless has excellent benefits, but sometimes the job stinks!!!! Oh, and my the way, 4 razr fons on my account keep saying ‘call failed’ when attempt an outgoing call!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Cingular doesn’t really want feedback on how they’re doing – they want confirmations from rare few people who are actually not mistreated and get what they want…
The post here, though, was almost two years ago. What ended up happening was that we found out that Cingular was the only one who would say they serviced our area (except Sprint which my brother-in-law had and hated, said the service was horrible). So we had no choice but to renew and get screwed over with activation fees, buying new phones out of pocket, etc. I still fail to understand how it was our problem that Cingular bought ATT and so we had to eat the cost of changing over to the new band, or whatever it is.
The end of June will also mean the end of our contract and I plan to move. In the last two years, Sprint has gotten better service here from what I understand, T-Mobile has come into the area, and though Verizon says they’re not here, friends with Verizon who visited said they had wonderful service. I do worry about the areas farther from the interstate, though. Either way, we plan to get rid of Cingular hopefully once and for all this time. Last November they tried to scam us in regards to my husband’s phone that should have been warrantied, flat out lying about the price of the phone.
I know that all cell phone companies will have problems – it’s really all just a big scam – charge lots of money for a piece of crap phone that is not going to work for the length of the contract and keep that customer coming back and spending money and renewing the contract to get affordable prices on phones all because they need the phone for… whatever it is. Just a big scam. All of it. But I refuse to give anymore money than I have to to Cingular.

I have been a customer of Cingular for 4 years plus, my contract expires in Dec 2007, I went in to their store and after an hour I was waited on, I told them I wanted to upgradge my phone and would agree to sign another 2 year contract. The girl then showed me a phone that had a sign $129.00 on it and told me it would be $179.00 for me, as the $129.00 was only for NEW customers. In other words, CRAP ON THE OLD LOYAL CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE PAID THEIR BILL FAITHFULLY MONTH AFTER MONTH…so forget them Im leaving in December when my contract is up….meanwhile, I am getting a sign to post in my front yard on a very very busy street in Abilene that will say DONT USE CINGULAR UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING CRAPPED ON….

The service will be even worse now that we have someone like Richard Burns in charge. He does not care about the customers, he only cares about the bottom dollar. If he could he would lay us all off. You the customers think you have bad coverage now? It will be even worse now that “Dick” is in charge. Sites are not getting fixed because his new NOC idea doesn’t work, they don’t even see sites down.
