hmmm… what?
This has got to be the biggest piece of absolute crap I’ve ever seen.
Without getting into a lot about the issues of abortion or birth control, etc., this is a cartoon for Planned Parenthood Golden Gate. The video was removed from their website but is available at one animator’s site (http://www.nickvasallo.com/video.htm – top one).
This cartoon is of a “superhero” who goes around promoting choice.
Choice is all fine and dandy, but this “superhero” is also promoting the killing of people who disagree with her. She drowns a man who is promoting abstinence. She basically calls him a liar for saying that the only true way to prevent pregnancy is abstinence. And, hello, he’s right – nothing else is truly 100%.
“Call me Dionysus,” she says. HELLO – Dionysus was the god of wine and known as a drunk.
She then goes to the Planned Parenthood clinic and blows up three protestors. She shoots them with her trusty condom gun and then the condoms expand and explode the protestors to bits. Even after she admits that it is their First Amendment right to protest!!
Towards the end, she just name drops and says that she must get going, she’s going to meet with “a reverend Jerry Falwell… that schmuck.” Seriously. Nothing else about him is said, his name is only mentioned to take a cut at him and anyone who might agree with him.
Regardless of how you feel about PP and these issues, this cartoon has no useful information whatsoever. It is all about making fun of and offending the other side.
I feel the same way about commercials who only offer their products on the basis of saying what’s wrong with the competitor (except they’re not offensive), if all you can do is make fun of the other side, what good are you? How about giving a good argument for people to believe your side? How about acting like a human being and build yourself up with solid facts instead of just trying to make the other side look bad to make yourself look better. All you’re doing in the long run is making your credibility go downhill.
My mama always taught me that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. And most importantly, don’t make fun of other people, especially not in an attempt to make yourself look better – because it never works. And never, never should you promote violence! Especially for the stupid reason that someone disagrees with you.
So, now who’s intollerant? It’s no secret that I’m pro-life. But does that make me evil and stupid? NO. That’s my CHOICE. Planned Parenthood just can’t stand the fact that not everyone agrees with them.
People like this sicken me.

Same thing happens in politics also; many candidates focus on discrediting the “other guy” instead of showing the people what good they themselves can bring if they get [re-]elected.
I agree that any idea that cannot tolerate or let people have opposite or different views should be viewed with skepticism.

Although I could personally never terminate, I’m
actually Pro-Choice, but that is absolutely disgusting. I’m horrified.

Sounds like a really bad way of promoting ones view. I’ve never had much respect this kind of misplaced humor!

Yeah, the cartoon’s not really of any worth. It tries to push the right ideas the wrong way (killing of people who disagree, etc).
However, the idea of Jerry Fallwell being zapped with a condom gun does bring a smile to my face.

This brings back the oh so fond memories of the last two American presidential elections where both opponents were basically just spitting fire at each other instead of making valid arguements, statements and promises to their audience.
It’s childish, really.. That advertisement horrified me. I can’t believe grown adults actually do those things….
