hmmm… what?

These people are stupid!

Oh my gosh. The people who work for Yahoo must be three years old.

So for a long time I was wishing they had an easy upload tool for FireFox. You know, where you can browse a folder on your hard drive, select everything in it, then walk off while it uploads - instead of choosing ten at a time, waiting, doing ten more, etc.

Finally they got it and I installed it, and had been using it for at least a week here. Suddenly the other day it went away and I was returned to the form showing only the ten at a time upload. So I clicked the help to see what happened and could only find instructions for installing it:

1. From the One-by-One Upload, click the "Get the Easy Upload Tool" link on the right side of the page.
2. If the Software Installation window is visible, click the "Install Now" button and skip to step 6 below. If the Software Installation window is not visible, look for a yellow bar at the top of the page and click the "Edit Options…" button.
3. Click the "Allow" button to add Yahoo! Photos to the Allowed List, and then click the "OK" button to close the window.
4. Click the "Download Now" button on the installation instruction page.
5. Click the "Install Now" button on the Software Installation window and wait for the installation to complete.
6. When the installation is complete, close all Mozilla Firefox windows and restart your Firefox browser.
7. Return to http://photos.yahoo.com, sign in, and click "Upload Photos" to begin using the Easy Upload Tool.

I’d already done that. So I clicked the thing for “no, this is not enough information” and sent them an email saying that it used to work and is suddenly gone - what’s the deal? The thing is still listed in my browser extensions section.

I get this response:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Photos.

The Yahoo! Easy Upload Tool currently do not support the Firefox Browser. In order to upload items to your Yahoo! Photos Account, please use Internet Explorer, available as free downloads on the Web.

The Internet Explorer browser can be found at:

The Internet Explorer browser for the MAC can be found at:

Um… hello!? So I basically responded with

That’s crazy.
Have you even read the page I clicked from?
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/photos/upload/upload-03.html
There are instructions for installing the Easy Upload Tool in Firefox! And I did that several weeks ago and was using it fine until just out of the blue the other day!
Internet Explorer is crap, I refuse to use it ever again, basically.

And I got

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Photos.

The Yahoo! Photos Easy Upload Tool installer is 135K in size. It is available for PC with Internet Explorer 5.0x or greater on Windows 95/98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP. It is not currently available for Mac.

Follow these steps to install the tool:

1. From the One-by-one upload page, click the link on the right side of the page for the Yahoo! Photos Easy Upload Tool.
2. Follow the three steps explained in the animation on the subsequent page.
3. First, click the “Install” button.
4. A security certificate will appear that will ask you if you’d like to install the Yahoo! Photos Easy Upload Tool.
5. Click “Yes.” The tool should install automatically and display in your browser window, ready for immediate use.

You can select photos to upload with the Easy Upload Tool in two ways:
you could click the “Select Photos” button, which brings up a file
browser that lets you navigate your hard drive to find photos.

For better resluts we suggest you to use the Internet Explorer. The Internet Explorer browser can be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

These people are not even reading what I’m writing!? Can they not get it through their thick skulls that their webpage says they have instructions for using it in Firefox and that I did use it in Firefox for about a week or so and that suddenly it’s gone?

Grrrrrrrrrr….

So, at this point, I’m just frustrated really that they’re not listening to me. So I responded with

Listen to me carefully. And know that I am a SBC Yahoo DSL customer, I expect this to work correctly. And know that I refuse to use IE. I have Windows XP.

Your webpage (http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/photos/upload/upload-03.html) states that you have this extension for Firefox.

I have already done all of this. I was using the extension for at least week fine, until it suddenly disappeared. It is still listed in my browser extensions section. It just does not work. I have tried clearing my cache to get this to work. I would like to reinstall it but the link to install it is gone now from the upload page.

If you do not offer this for FireFox, your webpage should not say you do!!!
http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/photos/upload/upload-03.html

This is all just stupid. I was so excited to see the extension for FireFox. Before, if I had more than one to upload, I would have to open IE and use it and I hate having to do that. Why can’t these people who are all supposed to be professional companies and such get webpages that span across all browsers??

So now I get:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Photos.

We apologize for the inconvenience. If you are running other programs in addition to your web browser while visiting Yahoo! Photos, such as pop-up blocking software, parental control software, special plug-ins or security/firewall software, you may have trouble using certain features of the Yahoo! Photos website. For example, the above mentioned software can cause problems when trying to upload photos using the Easy Upload Tool or when using the online photo editing tools. In addition, pop-up blockers can create conflicts when sharing photos using Yahoo! Messenger. Please remember to disable these types of programs or software in order to take full advantage of Yahoo! Photos.

However, for best results, we suggest using Internet Explorer for uploading photos.
The Internet Explorer browser can be found at:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx

*smacks forehead*

Who said anything about Yahoo Messenger!?
And haven’t I been saying all along: “suddenly stopped working”? You know, I haven’t installed anything else that would conflict with it, blah blah blah…

My response?

Forget it.

  1.

That breaks the previous record held by SBC Yahoo! DSL support for me. You should send Yahoo the url to this post, so they know the blunder they made and how other people are reading about it.

Pass the url around to a few of the tech sites or something; these people must know that bad publicity will result if they don’t even read an email, which is much easier than handling an angry phone call.

I had the same kind of experience with my online driver ed’s program tech support. *Sigh*.. I hate not being listened to. Those big-time corporations don’t think they need to listen to the small people anymore. It’s so wrong.

Oh, and I’d love to see this entry submitted to Yahoo like Bes said. :) It’d be interesting.

    Morons!

  4.

Oh, man, this is just stupid! IE is not the answer to everything!!
