Dear Katrina,

@#$% you.

R.I.P. our beautiful vacation spot, may you rise again soon, Gulf Coast, Mississippi.

You know, take this with a grain of salt, because I do really care more about the people who have been killed, injured, displaced more than the buildings and the area itself.

I do think this has been the first time where I’ve watched an evening of Disaster Reality TV where all the destroyed buildings were actually familiar to me. We watched photos and video of the Biloxi and Gulfport areas on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and it’s crazy how I recognized each of the buildings. For instance, at one point I yelled out - “is that the place we went that one time!?” Steve knew what I meant. Our first time down there we visited an aquarium-park-thingy in Biloxi - it’s now completely demolished. The big Baptist church? Gone. Etc.

The way it was, April 2005:

April 2005 April 2005

But seriously, let’s remember those people who are now injured, homeless, close to it, etc…

@#$% you, Katrina.

    A most beautiful new theme.

I’m sorry to hear about Gulf Coast, I know I love going back to places I’ve already been to and knowing how it was there.

I’ve seen videoclips of houses and stuff …. there is really nothing left over there! So sad for those people! Just imagine losing your house, pictures etc. (I know what it’s like to loose a family member, poor people!)

And I would get really sad if my favourite holiday location would be destroyed to….

I’m so sorry for all those people affected. This hurricane was a real destroyer! I’m not quite up to date on all the damage, but I know it’s huge. Hope the Red Cross can keep doing their job there to rescue those still trapped in it.

I’ve been looking at my old photos my self from Biloxi/Gulfport. We were supposed to go down there in October to train, now we may be going for humanitarian relief. I am so upset over all of this. I remember this restaurant sitting right on the beach in Gulfport, that had the best food. Pictures of the Grand Casino and the Copa Casino brought tears to my eyes, not because of the gambling, but because of the memories.

Hurricanes suck :( The 4 that went through FL last year destroyed tons of places that I knew and loved. Nature can really be cruel sometimes.
