Is that my name? I think not.

Earlier today we got a funny phone call. We saw it pop up on the Caller ID on the tv and Steve said, “it’s probably a wrong number.”

When I answered the phone and the caller said, “Mrs. Holifield?” I assumed he had the right number. But then he said, “I understand one of your sons has a deer rifle he wants to sell?”

I kind of laughed and said, “Uh, I think you have the wrong Holifield.”

He just kind of stammered like he knew he was right and I must be crazy and he could only say, “Uhhhhh…” And, as you will see, this was a continuing trend.

It was almost all in the same breath as I was still actually speaking and I said, “My son is two.”

In other words, he’d better not have a deer rifle!!

“I think you need my mother-in-law.”

“Uhhhhh…”

“Are you looking for ____?” (My mil)

“Uhhhhh… …Are you on ____ Drive?”

“No, we’re on __. Yeah, see, that would be my mother-in-law.”

“Uhhhh…”

“Do you need their number?”

“Uhhhh… Is it xxxx?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, sorry, thanks.”

S’alright, Dude. Happens all the flippin’ time in some form or another. Seriously.

$345.96

Yup, I just ordered my candle supplies and I spent $345.96. This had better be worth it!

After literally a few hours of deliberation I decided on:
Christmas Cheer
Gingerbread
Home Sweet Home
Nutmeg & Cedar
Peppermint
Snow Angels
Sugar Cookie
Sweet Apple Crisp
Warm Vanilla Sugar
Whipped Pumpkin Pie
Winter Woods

This kid is SO going to be the death of me!

I came to check on him and when I stepped around the corner, this is what I saw: Elijah standing on top of his dresser, trying to get the door unlatched.

We have a hook to hold the door to the wall so he can’t close it (you may remember how he broke the door off the hinges twice while trying to close it over the baby gate that was in the doorway.)

He’s too smart for his own good. Scarcely had I taken this picture and he got the door unlatched.

*sigh* This kid is going to be the death of me!

My parents are so funny…

My dad just called to find out if, when I was living at home, I was, well…

Dad: “You remember that Gwen Steffani?”
Val: “Yeaaaaahhhh…?”
Dad: “What band was she in that you used to listen to.”
Val: “No Doubt…?”
Dad: “Yeah, and were you a big fan? Did you have a poster on your wall when you lived here?”
Val: “Noooo… I had a cd…?”
Dad: “Okay, tell your mom what you just told me.” Hands phone off and does fake, funny muhahahaha laugh.
Mom: “Hello?”
Val: “Uh, am I starting some kind of fight here?”
Mom: “No, your dad just seems to think that you were some huge No Doubt fan when you lived here. But I say that is ___ [my sister]. He thinks you had some big poster on your wall or something.”
Val: “Noooo… I had a cd…?”
Mom: “See, I knew it. You never had any posters on your wall, did you?”
Val: “I don’t think so when I was in the room that ___ [my sister]’s in now. Oh, well, wait, I think I had a small Skillet one… a Newsboys one, and maybe a MercyMe. I don’t ever remember a No Doubt one.”
Mom: “See, I remember all of them…”
Val: “I had a No Doubt cd but that was it.”
Mom: “What was it called?”
Val: “Tragic Kingdom. I used to play it alot, though, because that parakeet I had loved it. She’d always sing when I played it.”
Mom, to Dad: “See, I was right.”

:lmao: Parents.

Help! Input needed!

This is a sticky post until Thursday morning. I need your input!!

I’m not giving up yet, I have to come up with about $350 for entry fees for the five fairs I want to do: two in October and three in November. But I also need to find the perfect scents to make. Here’s where you come in - what should I get?

Please choose your top three to six scents to help me make some decisions! Try to pick at least one of each type (Fall scents or Christmas scents or etc). I have to order soon, too, before any of this stuff gets sold out like last year!! So please let me know soon, I think I will order BY Thursday morning.

Also note that I already have Apple (Macintosh), Blueberry/Blueberry Cheesecake, Cinnamon, Hot Buttered Rum, Roasting Chestnuts, and Sage. I guess all of those are of the right seasons? My Cinnamon smells like red hots, not like a bakery treat (to me anyway).

Oh! Get this!!

So on Saturday I get an email from my aunt that said:

Subject: It’s A Girl

B & S have a new baby girl. ___, born 8/12/05 at 4:54 p.m.
She weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and is so beautiful.
I’ll try to get pictures today and send them out.
B, S and the boys are so happy! Grandma is too!

…and my jaw dropped.

“B” is my first cousin but I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW SHE WAS PREGNANT!!!

NO ONE TELLS ME ANYTHING!!! :-x

No Electricity

Today I escaped to my in-laws’ as we had no electricity. However, this was by choice.

You might remember a couple of months ago when I smelled something strange and got all freaked out to find out later that we had a burnt wire in our fuse box in the basement? Or maybe you remember the three times this summer that the AC has tripped the fuses and then proceeded to blow warm air instead of cold?

I’m never doing this again!

I’ve had three five people ask me within 5 minutes on IM how my fair went this weekend. So I guess I’d better get posting. :D

It sucked.

It sucked royally.

We sold less this weekend in two days than we did last time in the first day. Surprisingly, Sunday was much more profitable than Saturday and everyone says that Sundays usually suck compared to Saturdays. But it was so miserably hot! Yesterday we apparently observed a high of 97° F, and it was SO humid! You didn’t have to do anything at all to be sweating buckets (I know, that’s just gross), just sit there, in the shade.
