hmmm… what?

Excuse you?

A few minutes ago, Steve flipped by NBC, and they (I think the Today Show) were in the middle of saying that they are down in Louisiana picking up stray animals and “returning them to their owners.”

Excuse me? Did I hear you right?

You’re picking up stray animals and returning to their human owners who have been displaced and lost their homes as well!?

You mean to tell me that you expect those people without homes, food, water of their own to care for an animal right now?

Give me a break.

How about we forget the stupid animals and worry about the old women, young children, babies, men, women, all without homes of their own in need of the basic necessities that the rest of us take for granted? How about we find out who’s dead and who’s alive so that family elsewhere can be notified?

You can worry about the animals later. Or the “precious animals” as the lady put it. Animals are just that - animals. They’re cute and furry, but none of them compare to even one human life.

Stupid people.

Humans aren’t all that superior, let’s not have more deaths because of the catastrophe, and help the animals out too.

I’m pretty sure a child’s day can be made so much brighter if his lost dog/cat is returned. That smile would be gratitude, and it would keep him so much further from what’s really happening to him.

Personally I like the idea of saving both humans and animals.

I’m with Marine and Mike. Saving the animals is very important as well. Actually to me…saving them is MORE important. But that’s just the big animal lover in me. I know if I lost my house and my cat was missing on top of that…I would go insane. I wouldn’t rest until he was found. Screw the house…I could always get a new one…you can’t just replace a pet like that.

But you can’t ever replace a human being either, so go on, get them out of there!!

  5.

No you can’t…but the point is exactly what Marine said..humans are all that superior to animals. Save them ALL.

I’m with Mike. A life is a life, and regardless of the fact that cats and dogs may not be as intelligent as humans, be bipedal, or able to speak English, they still understand suffering. Being abandoned, whether the owners did so willingly or not, and dying of starvation or dehydration is still a horrible way to go.

I don’t see the harm in a small group of people trying to save them, it’s not like they hindered the evacuation.
