But, everyone’s doing it!!

So I thought about doing it last year, but worried I would never finish. Everyone’s doing it. So I finally decided that I, too, would jump in. So I am now a:

NANOWRIMO Participant

Yes, I will be trying my hand at writing a 50,000 word novel starting tomorrow, November 1st and ending November 30. We all know there’s a few things I’ve been wanting to write, but that I feel my skills have waned since the time I took English Composition I & II in college. My volcabulary these days is like that of my 2-year-old, it seems.

But I’m gonna give it a go. Starting tomorrow. I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to post it here bit by bit as I go, or wait and see if I get the thing finished or not. What do you think?

Now, here’s the part where you wish me luck and keep harrassing me each day about writing something. And 50 points if you can guess what I’m going to write about. ;-)

Good luck with NaNoWriMo: Daria, Nicole, Vixx, Owen… did I miss anyone?

What is a nuisance in the spring, a blessing in the fall, and doesn’t matter a hill of beans if you’re in Indiana?

So, so, so very tired…

I am so tired that on the way home tonight when the guy on the radio kept saying, “Honda Pilots and Elements, Pilots and Elements,” all I could think was, “when did Honda start making water heaters?”

We did good at the fair today - for us anyway. This place was huge, we haven’t seen it all yet. So much bigger than I expected, so much bigger than I remember it being when I was little.

Achhhh though, because of today, I get to go to my website and mark at least three scents as out of stock. I have two fairs next weekend, one the week after that, and one the week after that. How am I going to keep up with all of this?

Soon, I’m sure, I will be singing, “wake me when November ends…”

Remembering

This is a scheduled post, I’m actually at the fair right now! ;-)

The other day I was uploading some photos to Flickr for the purpose of trying out their new order prints feature. When Elijah was born, a friend of ours took some marvelous photos of him and us. Usually with our friends they take the good photos and frame them as a gift. With us, she said it was the best session she’d ever had and they were pretty much all good, so they framed one as a 5×7 and then gave us all the rest, including negatives. Needless to say, I have yet to frame those photos… still. I have a black frame with different size holes in it and I would have already framed them but some will have to be enlarged/reduced to get them all placed. So I’m hoping that by uploading these to Flickr, I can get my butt in gear.

Anyway, so as I was uploading, I saw something in a contact’s photos and thought I just had to try it, too. So, here we have, created with fd’s Flickr Toys, a mosaic:

See all the photos?

Enjoy :cute:

Let’s play a game, shall we?

Remember those Where’s Waldo books? Let’s play Where’s Val…

Float Trip 2005: Group

Do you know me well enough to find me in this photo? You’ll probably have to view it full size, of course.

Bonus points if you can tell me which of those people are related to me or Steve, too. ;-)

More bonus points if you can tell me something else about the left side of the photo.

This photo was taken by someone else with my camera when we went on that float trip in July.

I had another real purpose for posting this post… but now I can’t remember…

We’re gettin’ no place fast.

Whenever I am on the internet, once in a day, I’ll stop by my own blog here, and see if there are any entries in the sidebar that are being listed as posted a year or two ago. I always read these entries.

Look at one year ago today, will ya? Look down at the 8th paragraph, it’s just a one liner.

My dryer still hasn’t been fixed after months. What does this say?

So it has been over a year that my dryer’s been on the fritz. It works all fine and dandy, but the timer’s busted so it will run and run and the dial never moves and the thing never shuts itself off. I have a tendency to forget about it and realize that it’s been running for four or five hours or more. Amazingly enough, none of the clothing inside has ever spontaneously combusted… yet.

So I was right, it’s been over a year that the thing has been busted and over a year that we’ve had the part to fix it but it hasn’t been done.

Almost makes me want to move into an apartment or rental house somewhere so I can yell at some landlord to fix stuff instead of Steve, the husband who has absolutely no time for anything at all.

School Photos

Since 2002 I’ve been doing school photos for Sarah and Sheila and it’s quite fun. We shoot a lot, a few come out good enough for prints to put in Christmas cards.

Yesterday was the first time I really got to take photos like this of my sister and one of my brothers. So they’re all (read: 90%) online at Flickr, but here are my favorites. What do you think?

Spam-by-mail & telemarketers

You know what’s annoying? Getting mail for my in-laws here at my house.

Now, I could understand this if they had at once lived here, but they haven’t. I understand me getting mail at my parents’ house still and Steve at his parents’ house still, but them getting mail here? It’s all junk mail (SPAM!!), of course.

It started in 2002 with one piece of mail addressed to Steve’s dad. Before long we got mail for my brother-in-law, then my other brother-in-law, then my mother-in-law. This year came some mail for the oldest sister-in-law. We only haven’t gotten mail for Sarah or Sheila. Today, half the mail we received was addressed to my mother-in-law at our address. I hate you Geico and DirecTV.
