hmmm… what?

Mad at the world

Seems like everyone’s out to piss me off today and it’s not even 10am yet. Let’s see… who’s frustrating me?

Fujifilm
Looks like I’m going to be without my digital camera for about four weeks. Not long ago my camera started shutting itself off for no reason and it’s getting worse. It might happen right after I turn it on or right before I take a picture, or right after I take a picture, or right after I press the button to review pictures, or in today’s case: about 30 times while trying to get it to discharge the batteries. I have taken good care of the batteries and the camera itself, I don’t get it.
So I finally called Fujifilm today (they’ve ignored two emails from me to their tech support department), and all they will tell me is their address - I waited on hold for 25 minutes to get their stupid address to where I am supposed to send in my camera for them to look at it and hopefully fix it. To me, this is just a stupid solution, but I guess it’s really the only thing that can be done, as they have no repair locations in Missouri, but it pisses me off nonetheless.
This means that for the next three or four weeks I have to either use the cell phone only or the 35mm… which means I have to go buy film. I won’t be able to take many or decent photos at the five fairs we have coming up now. If it doesn’t come back to me fixed by my friend’s wedding on November 26, I’m really going to be angry… *sigh*

Yahoo
What else is new? I am sick and tired of the stupid Javascript errors that keep popping up in my email and keep me from reading some messages, deleting any messages, moving any messages, etc. And we all know that their tech support is run by people who don’t actually read the emails they get, so, I’m stuck here. I am really considering moving to Gmail for all my mail but I don’t want to because there are still some limitations there for external addresses (doesn’t reply from that address, changes to default, for one).

Nickelodeon Jr.
Last night I had to go in Walmart with my family to show them how to get prints of the lovely pictures I took of my sister from my memory card. Elijah started freaking out and after a few minutes I realized why. He could see the VHS rack with Dora the Explorer tapes on it. So, yeah, we ended up buying one. Some Cowgirl Dora or something. He held that thing all the way home, I was surprised he stayed awake, we got home at nearly 11pm.
Now the reason Nick Jr ticked me off today - this is a tape for a preschooler and/or young child, right? Then why the heck is there ten minutes of previews on there!? Elijah freaked out as I fast forwarded through them, he wanted Dora NOW. Why can’t they put previews on after the feature? Please?

Windows XP
I really hate that the “new folder” button is right next to the “go up one level” button…

Spammers
They are constantly crawling my site… even as I speak. I just deleted 118 spam comments and that doesn’t count the emails from OSA that it has deleted over a hundred just since yesterday afternoon. Each day I have more to delete. Well, at least they’re not getting on the blog, but still. I had to turn off the “email me when there’s a comment to moderate” feature because it was just overloading me. So if any person gets a moderated comment, they’re out of luck, because they’re all getting marked as spam, I don’t have time to go through all those comments and see what’s not spam and what is, not when 99.9% of them will be spam for sure…

Husbands
And finally I am angry at Steve because he refuses to buy me a dishwasher. Excuse me while I go wash some dishes…

(Okay so that sounded worse than I meant it, I’m not really mad at him. We don’t have room for a dishwasher. But I still wish I had one…)

Aw, it sounds like you’re having an awful time at the moment. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out soon, especially the digital camera. If I go somewhere special, I feel lost if I forget my camera.
Previews and trailers on videos/DVDs irritate me too. I think the reason why they don’t put them after the main feature is probably because they are afraid that people just won’t bother to watch them. But even fast-forwarding them can take quite a while.

Sorry to hear about that. Most of it is realted to weird customer support. Seems like you have been encountering Yahoo support and its ignorance for a while now. They copy paste everything, and many online responses do the same thing.

Regarding Windows XP, I remember seeing a program on fileforum that can change the icons and their placements in Windows. I will try to find it and send the link your way.

Spammers simply suck [btw, what's OSA? my mind isn't working I think...].

LOL @ the previews and “Dora NOW” heh, previews suck. There are ads and previews everywhere; dvds, vhs, even at theatres where one has to watch advertisements before the previews, before the actual movie.

Sending a camera to the support department may be a risk; what if they lose it or can’t find it? I hope they gave you a complaint or service order #, so that you can track it or refer to it if you have to call them later on to ask them what’s the status of the whole issue. Last time I checked, Big Lots [not sure if you have them there] was selling ultra cheap films which had a pretty good ISO rating, depending on what you wanted. [sorry for the long comment, but this was a very interesting post]

Oh my. I laughed my arse off when I read about the Dora thing! I totally know what you mean! We went SHOE shopping and on the bloody counter they had a rack of Bob the Builder figures that Sam refused to put down so guess what we had to buy as well as the shoes . . . ?

*hugs about the lack of dishwasher*

    V xx

My step-mil has her dishwasher on wheels so that she can move it. I don’t know exactly how it’s set up, but I thought I’d tell you in case this might help you find a solution!

  7.

i grow up in a country where dishwasher is not a norm. we usually just wash them with our hands. as for the spam thingy, try installing a spam plugin. i’m using one. and it really reduces lots of unwanted horrible spams.

i’m not doing that good anyway. my computer monitor is spoilt. everything is blue or green in colour. and my washing machine is spoilt as well. worst is, i’ve got no money to buy new ones. oh the horror.

Isn’t life great? That totally sucks about your camera, and I rid myself of Yahoo mail a long time ago because of their … great service *cough* As for the dishwasher … I am in the same boat. Hope things start looking up for you :)

Sounds like you’re mighty pissed! For the Fujifilm digicam, you may want to check out the advisory notice here. For all you know, it could be their fault, and you’ll get a free servicing! *Hugs* to you. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Spam - although rather tedious, I manually go into the wordpress database and turn off the ability to comment on posts older than a month old once a month. I RARELY get spam comments. I’ve also deleted the trackback.php file - that way I can’t get trackback spam either.

    I. Hate. Spam. Bots. Too. XD

(They make me type retarded sentences and they get on my nerves).

Just wondering, ever considered using Canon? Their digital cameras seem quite good. I’m using Nikon though (D70). D50 is out. Perhaps it’s time to get a new camera? XD

I really hope your day improves. And Steve should get to do the dishes…then maybe he’d change his mind.

    More clarification:

    Camera –
Yeah the camera, I really can’t afford to get another one right now. The one I have I have because for the first time ever, Mom and Dad gave us Christmas money last Christmas. After that and other things I ended up with something like $130 to spend. After taxes and junk I spent about $175 on this. You can guess where the difference went, or heck, where all of it went: the credit card.
I really really really really like this camera!
AND get this - the day after I posted this post, I took Elijah to the park and let him run around and I shot up a whole 128MB card, including some soundless video, and my 16M card - the stupid thing didn’t shut itself off once!! Nor did it shut itself off on me yesterday when I was messing around with it (though I didn’t mess for long).

PLUS, I finally found out about warranty. It’s not apparently under warranty anymore, that only lasts for 90 days. SO, any work they do to it I have to pay for no matter when I send it in.

Tomorrow I’m taking Elijah, Sarah, and my mother-in-law to a state historic site. We’ll see how the camera preforms then and on Saturday at another bonfire. Then I will decide if I want to go ahead and send it in or not, no later than Nov 1st, so I would hopefully have it back by my friend’s wedding and certainly before Christmas.

Otherwise, I guess I will wait until after Christmas/New Year’s…

Oh that was entirely longer than I’d meant it to be…

    Spammers –
Sorry, Bes, OSA is my spam plugin for WordPress. Owen wrote it and it is stinking awesome. It’s caught all the spam comments into moderation but mostly lets everyone else through. I know Nicole (nicscribe) had some probems and I used to have to moderate her comment and Delilirum’s (Tammy) all the time due to something about their IP addresses, but now that they come as logged-in users, they are automatically approved. :)

Since I posted this original post, it’s caught another 1000 or so in moderation. All spam. They are really crawling on me right now. I temporarily turned off posting altogether on posts older than 21 days.

    Yahoo –
As for Yahoo, I’m finding it very hard to pull away from them because I’ve been with them so long and I use a ton of other services of theirs - messenger, music, photos, groups, etc. And now Flickr is owned by Yahoo. Well, if Gmail betters the way that external mail accounts are handled, I just might head there for mail eventually and completely.

On no, sending away the camera sounds scary!! Hope you don’t have to :) And the spammers: GRRRR! I had it coming a few weeks ago, but now it has finally slowed down a bit.
