Video Professor Wha-Ha?

This commercial cracks me up every time. It starts with a voice over saying something like, “what do you know about computers?” Or something like that. They show this woman who says:

My daughter definitely knows how to use a computer better than me half the time… and she’s three!

So, how much “better” does “definitely” and “half the time” equal? Are you as confused as I am?

    I’m confused because I’m wondering…what’s the commercial for?

    I know whatcha mean. I saw that commercial the other night and was thinking about the gal’s comment too…

    I mean, saying my 3 year old knows more about something to me, isn’t really saying the kid’s smart so much as saying I’m an idiot. I mean, sure a three year old kid can probably read as far as to say “See Jack Run, See Jack Jog, See Jack get hit by that Semi truck”…but a three year old saying:

    “ok mom, first go to File, then down to new Document. Select Worksheet, and now we have a new excel document. Ok, now, if you type =Sum(A1, B1, C1, E1, F1) it will sum up the totals of only those columns. That’s what you wanted right?”

    I can just picture a three year old saying “ok, to create this Macro Mom, go to Tools, down to Macro’, then click on Macros..click create..ok, now type:

    For i = 1 to 1000
    Range(”A” & i).Select
    datechange = ActiveCell.Value
    If Right(datechange, 4) = “0800″ Then

    datechange = Left(datechange, 8)
    myyear = Left(datechange, 4)
    mymonth = Mid(datechange, 5, 2)
    myday = Right(datechange, 2)

    ActiveCell.Value = mymonth & “/” & myday & “/” & myyear

    Else

    ActiveCell.Value = “”

    End if
    Next
    End Sub

    ok, save that and run it mom.”

    See, I highly doubt a three year old is gonna know more…but maybe I’m over thinking her statement…who knows…

    Haha! I’ve seen that commercial many times. Then they show her sitting through a tutorial on a computer and then an hour later or so, she says she knows a lot now and is happy.

    lol. I wish everyone knew about computers when they are 3.

    Jonathan is on his way to knowing the computer better than me, but those commercials kill me every time.

    Video, what does knowing how to use Microsoft Excel have to do with “knowing how to use a computer”? Seriously, what are you smoking and was it packaged with your copy of Microsoft Office?

    … and why would I think that putting the testimonial of a women claiming that her three year old knows more about computers would be compelling? Why is she the one and only person giving testimonial in all of VP’s ads over the years?

    Though VP is a successful company with hundreds of employees, the truth is that their product is crap and their marketing methods often step over the line from misleading into scam.

    Testimonial lady: “I tried THE Excel.”

    I use the Excel, The Word, the Access, and the Powerpoint too.

    That Microsoft Office program is a hoot, don’t ‘cha know.

    And isn’t is annoying how often John Scheer (sp) refers to his “product?”
    Try my product.

    Ugh. These commercials are almost as bad as Head On- Apply Directly to the Forehead, Hard On, and all their other “-On” products.
