Still Missing

She disappeared on an August afternoon, the 14th, and the case is still open. I’ve talked about her before.

They say she would now be 27 and her baby 5 months… if they’re alive.

The only evidence they have seems to point towards the father of the baby, my old networking teacher, yet he’s only considered “a person of interest” and not a suspect. They’ve taken samples of things from his farm, yet they are still are waiting on lab results. (What’s up with that?)

*sigh*

Idol Girls Re-Cap

Katherine McPhee - good, but just oh so not spectacular. Doesn’t stand out in my mind one way or another.

Kinnik Sky - you sucked! Hood don’t belong in tha country, honey. And neither do those pants. Oh, besides all that, Gretchen Wilson sucks. Don’t even sing another song of hers again, I beg you.

Lisa Tucker - another one that was okay, but not wonderful. I wouldn’t have chosen that song for her voice. Also, how about we try putting that bra back in your shirt?

Melissa McGhee - “Not bad, I guess,” comments Steve, “I dunno.” I don’t know that country is a good choice for her, but she pulled it off this time. But please don’t start with the fake offended looks when Simon gives you feedback. Ick.

Heather Cox - I’m just not being impressed so far tonight. Another good one, no major problems but just not impressive. She’s starting to show some attitude tonight it seems as well, the “I’m good and I don’t care what anyone else thinks because I cannot be improved upon” attitude.

Brenna Gethers - ugh. We already know I don’t like this one. ;-) “and I think, and I think, and I think…” Well, I think you’re full of yourself. And I think that you should choose a song that doesn’t make you sound so out of breath and that you shouldn’t thrust your hips (it doesn’t look pretty at all), and that you will not compare to the original and that you shouldn’t smile… it freaks me out. Even Elijah just said, “Ohhh pweese!”

Paris Bennett - wonderful job on that song, a little girl with a big voice. It’s not Whitney Houston but then again, that song is quite overdone. A little flat here and there, but pretty good!

Ayla Brown - ohmygosh, please stop curling your hair! And stop wearing those 4″ heels, aren’t you tall enough already? Okay, with that said, the performance was not bad, not spectacular (as seems to be the trend tonight), but certainly not bad.

Kellie Pickler - haven’t we already heard her sing this song?? Deja vu… Anyway, good as far as the song goes but it’s not one that can really show a person’s range or abilities. More on the easy side, I’d say. Cute but doesn’t make me want to vote for her.

Mandisa - definitley the best from tonight and she has my vote. Even Simon said she was the best, what else can I say? (Except she needs a friggin’ last name.)

How many are we getting rid of tonight? Steve says four and in that case, I think that America will kick off Katherine, Kinnik, Ayla, and Heather.

the tourney

Blurry This morning Elijah and I went to the martial arts tournament. We only saw Sarah compete though, they do the younger groups first.

We had to sit on the floor when we got there because I had Elijah in the stroller and so we needed to be near to the floor (as opposed to high up in the bleachers). And, of course, you’ve got a ton of people who have put their bags and crap on the lower seats, so there wasn’t any room for us. I sat on that hard floor entirely too long and my back still hurts.

Forms Forms Forms Getting instructions Waiting

And, of course, you’ve got a ton of kids with no respect that come and stand right in front of you while you’re not only trying to watch people compete, but take photos. From where we were, we could see Sarah do her forms, but I couldn’t get any photos thanks to those kids… and adults for that matter.

Enjoying the Tournament Trying to be tough Check distance Taking a breather Sparring

But I moved when she sparred and after she beat this girl, that whole family left so there was room for everyone else to come on over (my parents-in-law, Elijah, a family friend). So Sarah won the first round of her sparring but she lost the second against some boy. I don’t even know why he was competing with them in the first place, the groups are usually segregated by male female and then by age and then by belt rank. I found this kid to be quite rude though, when he gave Sarah the Morpheus-to-Neo “come and get it move.” That was entirely rude and I think meant to intimidate, piss off, or belittle Sarah. And none of that is what martial arts teaches, especially this type of martial arts.

Taking a fall Honorable Mention Ready? Waiting for her turn Sarah kicking butt

Oh well, it doesn’t matter if she won or not. She did her best and she did very very well. I’m so proud. :)

I love it when…

…I find someone on Flickr who just has the most fascinating photos that I could spend hours going through their photostream.

For instance, check out Quarrion’s set of flowers and nature!

Addition: also check out Bellablue’s photostream - wow!

America, you suck.

How could you NOT send home Brenna? PLEASE! (lol) She is so freaking annoying! :-)

More later, I’m sure.

the morning after

Yup, the morning after spending too much money!

Sarah and I went up to St. Louis and hit the mall yesterday. I was in need of clothing to wear to a funeral tomorrow (Friday), as well as another person’s visitation that night. The mother of the head director on our tv committee, etc. has died, she was 99. So for him I’ll be attending the funeral. The other death was Steve’s grandfather’s brother. We will just be attending the visitation for that. Steve says, “what, and go so I can see a bunch of people I don’t know?” His grandfather died in 2001, so…

So I ended up spending way too much money on clothing. However, the really stupid thing out of all of it is that I only bought four items. Dark brown pants for the funeral, nice pants, and a blue shirt. And then I am in BAD need of jeans so a pair of bootleg jeans and then a cute button down, vertical striped shirt. At another store I bought a ton of panties, they make the only brand I really like. But how’s the shirt? Sarah thinks it’s inappropriate for a funeral. :P

Shirt & Jeans

We also hit Bath & Body Works. Around Christmas I bought some of the hand soap and before long I realized it was disappearing faster than I was using it and I said something to Steve like, “are you using my soap?” “Yesssssss, it’s MOISTURIZING!!!!” Like that makes it okay or something. Well, whatever, if he wants his hands to smell like Vanilla, then so be it.
Well, because of this, I went ahead and bought more soap. I also fell for the whole “$5 aromatherapy body wash with any purchase, save $8.” And got the same scented bath bubbles to match. I deserve a bubble bath.

In fact, I deserve one now… ;-)

Where have I been?

create your own visited states map or check out these Google Hacks.

I know, I’m lame.

I was too little to even remember Oklahoma at all and all I remember about Texas was knocking over huge ant hills and then running. I was three for both of those, same trip. There was also something about my 7 month old brother and how he kept putting away graham crackers only it turned out that he wasn’t putting them where Mom thought he was putting them and they were instead all under his butt when we arrived. Of course, maybe I only feel like I remember that story since it’s been told so many times.
And, the Iowa thing, maybe that doesn’t even count. I mean, we were only in there for like 20 minutes as we went up from Missouri into Nebraska.
Kansas? Does it surprise you I’ve never been there? Yeah, me, too. I think that maybe I have been, but I can’t prove it, so…
Louisiana? We were close to going in there as we drove along the Mississippi coast in 2004. Or was it 2001? But Steve got tired and turned around. I wasn’t too happy. :P

So, apparently it’s 21% of the states I’ve been to. Why does it seem to be less than that?
