Stupid Fan
So I was in the living room on the laptop writing this really intersting blog entry (lol) when I got a candle order from an uber special blog friend. So the logical thing to do is print out the order, first things first.
Error, cannot print.
Okay, try the other printer.
Error, cannot print.
Then I got distracted. About 10 minutes later I needed to get on the external hard drive.
Error, cannot be reached.
Ooookay, I figure the desktop needs to be restarted. I go down there to the lower room and the desktop is turned off. “Did you turn off the computer?” I ask the husband. No…. I turn it on and:
Error, last shutdown occurred because of fan failure.
Or some crap like that.
Further testing has confirmed that the fan is indeed dead. I am now on the phone with a computer at Dell waiting to order a replacement fan. You know, since the website of the fan manufacturer is just like the fan: dead.
Okay, interesting, I know. But at least it is the fan this time and not my motherboard again, as happened November 2004.
Allllrighty then, part ordered! $24.95 with next day shipping ($16.something) and taxes ($2.something), the total is $43.50, and no interest for three months since they put it on my Dell account. ;-) I should have it by the end of the week as it is supposed to ship on or before the 30th. Until then, if I need a printer or something off the external hard drive… I guess I’m gonna have to go down and plug them in directly to the laptop. Blah.
This has been another crisis averted… Next one up? I need to find our personal property tax receipts. I know we had them a few weeks ago when Steve requested them from me and I handed them over. Now where are they? Can’t re-register his truck without them! (Or a waver that is…)
