hmmm… what?
Okay. So.
I have been wanting to get a new camera for a while now. Something that’s a bit more sophisticated than what I’ve got. I have been looking at this one camera for over a week now. Well, I have been looking on Ebay and bidding on several but either someone beats me to the buy-it-now (from this particular guy with good prices) or the bids go over what I could get it for on amazon.com. So just a few minutes ago, I ordered it on Amazon.

I ordered the 1GB memory card, too, because the biggest I have right now is 512MB.
Why this particular camera?
A lot of digital SLR features in the body of a point-and-shoot… RAW (been wanting to learn about this more)… longer exposure (up to 15 seconds)… interchangeable lenses… more ISO equivalents…
I already use this type of memory cards…
I already use these batteries (only AA but I have several rechargeables)…
According to Amazon, it should fit perfectly in the case I already have for my A340…
Better zoom than my current camera, in both opictal (4x) and digital (7.6x)…
9 Megapixels for up to something like 17×23 prints (3488×2616 resolution I think)…
Larger video size (640×480) and with sound (current camera does not do sound)…
Shakey-camera-syndrome resistance and “smart”/natural flash…
…and so much more…
So, I guess I will soon be moving my A340 along… anyone interested in a Fujifilm A340 4.1 Mexapixel? :-) It comes with a cradle and rechargable batteries unless my new one can take that cradle, too, but I really don’t even think that’s a possibility.
Some of the photos I’ve taken with that camera…
Anyway, the downsides to this?
More $$ on the credit card, of course, I’m gonna end up needing more back-up media, and I haven’t told Steve yet. :P My bad!
Oh well! ;-)

Nice camera indeed. ;) No ebay, eh? :( Amazon should be ok; at least you’ll have 30 days or so to see if the things works out or not and get a refund or an exchange, if warranted.
The memory card was a good choice, specially when you will be taking videos. Looking forward to 9 MP pics. :p

How much did it cost?

The camera was $340 on Amazon, and you can get the free shipping with that – on Ebay this guy is selling them buy-it-now for $287 but then there’s $20 shipping (which is kinda outrageous). So I coulda saved $40 there but I was getting sick of trying/waiting. The memory card was $40 but doesn’t ship from Amazon so it’s about $6. It ships from somewhere I’ve bought stuff from before through Amazon, though, J&R Music and Computer World.
Ya know, I coulda paid more for an actual Fujifilm card, and then gotten free shipping on that, but this way is cheaper and the reviews I’ve read for this camera say to get a Type H card, not the typical Type M because, they say, the H is faster than the M., but who cares if it is cheaper? Haha

Hey, we have the same name! That camera looks really nice! It seems like it’s worth it. My camera doesn’t have sound for videos, and I hate that.

I have heard lots of good things about Fujifilm cameras … I actually looked into a very similar camera a while back until Tyler bought my Pentax. Right now I’ve only got a 512MB card, but the cheapest 1GB card I can find is still about $50 or so, and since I do video I can still fit about 166 pictures on my current card.
OOoh, and have fun telling S. :D

I looked at this as an option for an everyday P&S (we call this the glove/jockey box camera though I don’t leave it in there, lol, but ended up staying with the old faithful brand. Had I not had that customer loyalty thing going and accessories that I would not have to additionally purchase to fit I would have purchased this one, just from everything positive I read on it. And wow, the price has come down @$150 since then–good deal, Val–have fun with it. :)
PS 1GB+ card is the only way to go when the camera can use it all. I only use smaller cards when I fill the 1gb’s up.
Let me know about your adventures in RAW–I still have not mastered it. Do you have software to edit RAW?

Wow that’s awesome! I’d been looking at this camera I want to buy, but it’s 1400 pounds so I have to wait and see if I can get some more money :P (that was why I asked bout the price)
