The Definition of “Frustrating”

I got these two emails from the same person today. It appears that one was sent before they finished writing and then started again with the second. Anyway, the online translator is having a time with this* and I still don’t quite understand it. Can anyone lend a hand? It’s either Portuguese or Spanish, I guess… ???

This happens to me quite a bit when chatting with my non-English speaking cousins on MSN. I end up translating back and forth and they tend to write not using the appropriate accent marks and what have you. Thankfully I leaned rather quickly that though “bebe” means “it drinks,” she meant “bebé” – baby! Boy, was I confused…

I’m pretty sure it’s Spanish because they mention Colombia. The Spanish I learnt is fairly basic, but I think it means, “I would like to find connections to the surname Doria in South America, living in Colombia. In this country there are Doria surnames in Popayan [city in South-Western Colombia], and the department [province] of Sucre Since.”

Yep, Victoria is right. Spanish is my first language so yeah, that’s what it syas. although it’s not very well written…. oh well, i’m not one to talk. lol
the only correction i would make is
“I would like to find connections to the surname Doria in South America, (living)-I live- in Colombia. In this country there are Doria surnames in Popayan [city in South-Western Colombia], and the department [province] of Sucre Since.â€
But that’s just being picky.

Definitely Spanish, although it doesn’t make much sense to me even when I understand what’s being said. Did I miss posts where you mentioned the surname Doria??

That’s interesting. Usually I get spam emails combined with translations into different languages in order to bypass the spam systems. I’ve used the following in the past and it worked nice:

However, it’s not a replacement for a real dictionary or for language classes.
Interesting to see Cocomment enabled automatically and saving all comments on the forms; nice.

And, yes, Doria is my major being-researched-name right now – it’s my maiden. :) I typically don’t mention surnames as they show up in the search engines and then I get confused visitors… :)
