hmmm… what?
So this happens to me occassionally.
On Flickr I get a FlickrMail that so-and-so has added me as contact. I always look at those people’s profiles and photos, because sometimes it’s someone I know “in real life.” And then, of course, I’ll add them as a contact, too. (This happened the other day, by the way, a girl I know.)
It was at least, today, the third time this has happened to me. I look at this guy’s profile, it says only that he’s 33 and counts me as a friend. Friend? Okay. So I look at his photos and am immediately hit with a page of porn. Lots of it. The photos are marked friends only.
Now, do I look like someone who wants to be subjected to this guy’s real and toon porn? What about my Flickr profile or my photos would give anyone the idea that I’m into porn? Answer? NOTHING!
Then I notice his other contacts. They’re all women who claim to have very large breasts with their screen names or they have somewhat normal names with porn in their buddy icons… or both.
It’s obvious, at this point, that I’m not going to mark this guy as a contact. But I really wonder what made him mark me as friend? It’s not like I commented on his one normal photograph that’s available publically. (That’s happened before, too, commented on a “normal” photo of someone and she added me as friend only to then be shown a million nude photographs. I have to applaud her on her bravery – she was like 50 – but I’m totally not into that.)
I just don’t get it… unless this is some new way of FlickrSpam… However, I tend to think this guy is kinda local, he’s in some of the same groups I’m in that are locally-defined. In fact, the other guy that did this to me was, too. Maybe it has something to do with Missouri? Because I live in Missouri I must like porn. Right?
I'm Valerie, late 20's, from Missouri. I'm married... with children: a young boy and a baby girl. I enjoy many things including photography, candle making, videography, history, and mythology. Baby Girl was born 11 weeks early after my water was broken for 8 weeks - she's my little miracle - so you're bound to hear a lot about her progress here. I am also a second generation homeschooler, that's bound to come up as well.

Of course. Whenever I see the word “Porn” I think of Missouri. It’s normal and everyone thinks that way. You didn’t know that?

Wow! You got your own blog! It look nice.
I never did the effort to upload all my pictures in Flickr. The free accounts are quite limited for what I want to do. Maybe I will purchase a pro account in the future and display more of my pictures there.
I guess there are crazy people everywhere. Maybe he was looking for some new girls to add to his collection?

Wow that is absoulutely nuts, isn’t it? Grr. I have a Flickr account but I don’t use it. Why? I’m not sure. Not enough time? That’s my excuse anyway. Ha. It really does make you wonder how creeps like that get your profile info and whatnot doesn’t it? Its not like you signed up on any other porn profiles… or did you? ha ha kidding!

I honestly believe some folks are so addicted to such stuff that they are past just viewing it themselves, they need to draw others in.
In your case, it’s most likely a case of spamming women until one of them bites on what they see. And, one other small factor, which, because I consider us friends, I’ll tell you.
You’re a pretty person and come across as an open and sharing type of person. He’s probably drawn to that, that and perhaps a picture like this.
— from anela – (?)
Again, it’s not about anything you do, or don’t do, but in his ill mind. Some guys, and I’ve known too many, consider a smile an invitation. The more confused a person is already, the tougher it is distinguish between a picture and a relationship. A problem pron junkies often have apparently.
So, I’d say block him and go on. Hope for the best, and let your beliefs guide you about what you post.

Todd — what picture? The blog program does not allow images in comments so I don’t know which one you mean… also, what’s the link to Flickr Central? I mean, am I missing what I’m supposed to be seeing there?
Sorry, just a bit confused. :-)
Thanks!

Doh, didn’t realize a picture wouldn’t go. The link was inadvertent.
The picture that I see right now in your comment to mine is the one that I was referring to. I’m saying for some folks, all it takes is one inviting smile. These people need help and prayers for sure.

Ooooohhhhhh…. do you think I should change the picture? Crop tighter? Use something else? I don’t want to give people the wrong idea. :\

You’re kidding, right?
We all know Val and porn are like flies on you-know-what!
Seriously, though.. If it was legit then I’m completely stumped!

Yes, change the picture in some way. At first glance, sad to say, it appears you might be topless. But seriously, I wouldn’t worry about it. Don’t change the picture, and don’t be put off by folks like that.
You just have to know it’s his problem and not anything you’ve done. A lovely face is NOT an invitation. Inspite of the image our society paints. I’m not in favor of forced modesty, but our culture could sure learn to appreciate the value of a little bit.
Thanks for being such a person that it does bother you though. More folks ought to be bothered about such a gross approach.

[...] I, for one, think this is a wonderful idea. I am not the only person, I’m sure, who’s tired of being added as a contact by someone who’s never commented on a photo of mine, never marked one of mine as a favorite, has probably never even looked at a single photo only to find out that I’ve been Flickr-porn-spammed, ie visiting the photos of this person hits you with porn marked for friends only. And poor you, you’re marked as a friend. [...]
