[...] What the telecom giants want to do is create a different system. Sites that pay them the most money for the speed will be on a kind of “super freeway”, that allows those sites to go much, much faster than before. So now Cingular.com loads before you can blink. Okay, so that’s awesome if you’re trying to pay your bill online (kidding! Their site sucks!). [...]

Oh and @ Sara - HOLY COW!!! Psycho!
I have AIM on my phone but never have gotten it to connect. I'm always afraid to wait too long and get a big bill. So not sure how they do that. I wonder if I can delete that from my phone so I'm not tempted to use it? :P

Verizon never could guarantee us service, neither could T·Mobile or Nextel or anyone. They would all just say, yeahhhh we think so, but we can't tell you for sure. We used to have problems with Cingular until the last few years where certain parts in town, and like going North on 61, we would hit Illinois towers and they would charge us roaming. We were calling every month to get the charges reversed. Maybe it still works that way, but with the nationwide, at least we don't get charged. However, in 2002 going South to Mississippi, I kid you not, we crossed into Arkansas and I was talking to my father-in-law and as we crossed the state line the phone died and would not make a call through that whole stupid state! Arkansas is the land of no return and that is why I will be skipping it entirely when I come see you in a few days. :-) ANYWAY! I will have to look into other companies when our contracts are up, in another year. :\ Everyone has been expanding since we last renewed with Cingular... Except, what you are saying about Verizon does not sound too promising!!!

I have decided all cell companies just SUCK. Verizon is at the top of my s**t list right now. I was going to get the new phone called "Chocolate". They advertised it as 49.99 if you were eligible for an upgrade. We called to see if it was also 49.99 if you added a line to your plan. 2 people told us yes (on two different days). We finally decided to order it and when we tried it kept giving us a price of 149.99 so we called back a third time. After this person also told us it should have been 49.99, she took it back. She said "oh sorry, it's only available with a phone upgrade." --long story short...after some loud words and a talk with a supervisor...we still didn't get the phone for 49.99. They really need to teach their people what the correct price is for what and how to deal with customers. Oy.

Wow, I can honestly say that Cingular may be worse than Verizon. heres a major cell phone horror story: I got a new phone, and we wanted to change my plan for more text messages. I asked the woman behind the counter if the phone had AIM capabilities, and she said ti did. I asked if the IM's counted as text messages, or internet usage. She said internet usage. Now, my mom and i connected the dots. For $15 we could get unlimited internet usage. Great. That also means unlimited text messages. We bougth that plan.

The next month rolls by.. and we get a bill... Oh no, it wasnt pretty... It was $1500 - I SHIT YOU NOT. They charged me like 1$ per text message (or more, because I didn't txt THAT much)... It was horrible..
