Today, I finally answered it. This woman with an Indian accent wanted ot verify my address. My domain is currently registered through Enom/Netrillium, and they'll add the protection on for free. Maybe you can try that in the future, so you can be protected without having to spend all the extra fees? Also, I'm glad you posted about this, because you can't be the only person that ever gets called about it!
