hmmm… what?

Credit Guard of America?

So I just saw this commercial and it really made me dizzy. They had all these people talking into the camera, with these extreme close-ups. But only one out of the 6 or so people who were talking actually had a steady shot. In other words, the camera was moving constantly, for no reason. The people weren’t walking around or jumping up and down, or anything like that, they were just talking. They moved their heads as to be expected when one is talking but there was no real reason to be moving the camera around like that.

So then they give their website, and I drop over: creditguard.com. The website says simply “Under development. Please check back.”

Um, yeah. Makes me want to trust my credit to that company… for whatever it is they do. How professional.

I saw that commercial too, and it’s annoying. They try to add that touch where a moving camera supposedly adds to the realistic portrayal of an image, the way many movies do so [unsuccesfully] these days.

    lol @ their website. :p

lol, that sucks. What a waste in advertising if the website isn’t even up yet. Go figure.

The site of CreditGuard.com might be truly succesful I agree if they finish with their site. This is only the second time I looked for this site or a connection to what a friend told me of about four months ago. Under the search bar from yahoo I find many related names and some not like DebtUSA or something which offered me a free quote and was all, then when I scrolled back at the top it said that Kansas (where I live), Michigan, and North Carolina. Well thank you for the infromation in regards to trying to use the site and I not feel so stupid in searching for site that is supposedly something that would help me take care of credit cards, medical, and repair loan bills.
Apologize for such long message and hope that it fits you qualifications from proper usage and terms.

    Sincerely
    James

Oh! Almost forgot to say hope had wonderful past holiday Sir or Ma’am and wish you still a Happy Yew Year. Thank you again for you time and hope that in some way if you be able to help me in searching for the item to repair my credit to good status. By chance if you are part of the credit guard company or rep in some way, but, in the instance that you are not then I again apologize for such long email and making it sound personal, and asking a complete stranger for help in such serious matter. I use yahoo almost everyday, and my college email, and in last month joined myspace in hope of connecting with help. Well thank you for you comments if the top one was yours or if not and just one of the people you say bad mouth you company I apologize for confusing the two.

@ James - Hi - no I am not part of a credit company but we did join one - we went with CareOne, should be careone.com. We’ve not been with them really long, just since this summer, but I noticed the other day that our big card did finally accept their proposal of monthly payments so at least now they’re taking automatic payments we can handle and we’re not adding to the card at the same time. Only time will tell how it goes…

Happy New Year to you, too!

The actual website for Crdit Guard is http://www.creditguard.org - I know because I made the same mistake. I am considering using them myself.

Yeah they’ve changed their commercials now. It does say .org now… However, there’s still the annoying camera movements.

I personally used credit guard and it is a very reputable company. I have never had a problem would recommend you give them a call and choose for yourself if you need help with your unsecured debt.

I guess they thought they might gain some MTV-style appeal with the younger crowd who tend to be the ones suckered into credit card problems in the first place.

Anyway, yeah: creditguard.ORG is the real deal - and I DID use them starting in 2001. What they described to me as a three year payoff plan ended up actually taking about 40 months - so not too far off the mark. If you are committed to eliminating credit card debt, I highly recommend them. It was a breath of fresh air to not have to worry about how this was going to be handled, to eliminate the harassment from creditors and collections people, and I was able to reverse a $35K+ debt.

What surprised the heck out of me was that three months after the plan completion I called a realtor buddy of mine to inquire about what I should do to recover from this process in preparation for buying my first home. He pulled my credit report then and there over the phone and said that my score was over 700 and that he could get me a $500K+ loan next week if I wanted. I had thought that it would take many years to re-establish credit, but it turned out that the repayment process through working with Credit Guard helped that happen along the way so I didn’t have to wait afterward.

Thanks for the comment Skelly, I’m glad to hear you got out of debt using them! We were with CareOne for about a year and a half and didn’t really feel like we were getting anywhere and our credit ratings had actually dropped. So we took out a home equity loan (which is really what I wanted to do in the first place but at the time my husband wouldn’t agree) and are now making smaller payments and paying more on principle, etc. We had/have less than $35k in debt, too, less than half actually. Just seems like it takes forever.

If you don’t mind my asking, could you please tell me how big the payments were that you were making and do you know what the interest rates were that they gave you?

I had 4 credit cards managed under them, all of which were drawing over limit and late fees and maxed to 24.99% as a penalty. Credit Guard ended up getting the APR’s to somewhere between 10-15% depending on the card, and I believe the combined payment was about $480/month (give or take a few bucks). It may sound like a lot, but some of those minimum payments were ~$300-400 before Credit Guard renegotiated everything, so it was a huge improvement. A home equity loan is a great way to go though since the percentage rate is so low.
