I have seen about a million Ford commercials over the course of… well, my lifetime. But their current campaign, something about bold moves, just gives me another reason to roll my eyes. I have yet to see even one commercial that shows an actual bold move.

Get with it, Ford! Seriously!

First of all: a Kelly Clarkson concert… not bold.

Not Bold: Taking your Mustang to Germany because supposedly you can’t find a speed limit in America you like.
Bold: Being a certain idiot I know who went 140 mph in a 70 mph zone… getting pulled over… and somehow getting away with it.

Not Bold: Inviting your ex-husband to go on a trip with you and your kids.
Bold: Pushing your ex-husband off a cliff.

Not Bold: Speeding through an empty parking lot at night.
Bold: Speeding through a not so empty parking lot during the day. (This may actually just qualify as stupid, however.)

Not Bold: Adding your son to the family business and letting him drive an older Ford pickup.
Bold: Telling your son, “go get a job, you bum, you ain’t gettin’ none o’ may moneyyyyy.”

Not Bold: Hauling stuff to fix up an old barber shop.
Bold: Running that truck into the barber shop.

Not Bold: Repainting an old truck.
Bold: Putting that old truck into a demo derby.

And the commercial that bugs me the most:

Not Bold: A woman handing the dry cleaning lady some extra money and telling her that she’d like to pay for “a few of his shirts, too, and would you give him my card?”
Bold: Getting out of your car and approaching the guy and talking to him yourself.

Take note, Ford, according to dictionary.com, the definition of “bold” is:

“Not hesitating or fearful in the face of actual or possible danger or rebuff; courageous and daring.”

Those commercials make my head hurt…
