Nearing the end

I’m so happy. Two more people to finish Christmas shopping for: my dad and Steve’s dad.

It’s so pathetic, I’m usually done by about two weeks before Christmas. I guess being sick just really put me behind in all things. I’m still waiting on a few things, though, that I ordered this morning. They’re supposed to ship one to two business day shipping, I paid $17 extra for that, so they’d better be here in time. It’s another “piece” of the total gift for my sister, one for a sister-in-law, and one for my mother-in-law. Oh, I just had a thought. We should get my sister’s boyfriend something, too. We like him. I want them to get married. ;-) Ohhh and I got a cousin left, too. Oops. I usually just throw candles and maybe a little something else at the aunts and uncles and then little gifts for the little kids who aren’t so little anymore. But this cousin’s the only boy who’s not old enough to be married (and is married) so I get him something of his own. He’s 12 though, I have no idea what he wants… Well, I hope to finish up the shopping for those four guys tomorrow.

And speaking of tomorrow, I am dropping off a candle order in South St. Louis County and then Sarah, Elijah, and I are going to go to the lights display at Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, ILL. This should be cool. I’ve heard it’s really good, and they have other attractions, too, than just the lights, like a Christmas tree display, free petting zoo, etc. Maybe on the way back we’ll hit that live nativity scene. Then that’s about as much Christmas cheer as I’ll be able to handle. ;-)

Mailin’

I was told by a special someone that this was too cute to pass up, so I should be sure and blog it:

Mail Boy

Yup, there’s my boy with nine boxes of candles. We ended up mailing eleven boxes yesterday, actually. Very nice. :)

However, he turned into psycho child shortly after this photo was taken when we entered the post office. For some reason, he thinks it’s his personal playground and as of lately just goes absolutely insane when we arrive. You can read more by clicking the photo, I’m tired already just thinking about it, too tired to relive it, that’s for sure.

But I tell you what, that boy has been ultra psycho lately and I really don’t get it. If anything, I’ve been giving him less sugar than normal. But he has just been non-stop-into-everything the last three days. It seems the only thing I’ve accomplished is to keep him from killing himself… or the dog.

I think I’m going crazy.

In other news, my littlest brother now has his very own stalker. Welcome to the real world, baby. You know you have arrived when you have a stalker of your own. Sadly for him, his isn’t halfway across the world. But gladly for him, it’s just some girl who’s apparently totally in love with him. I’m sure she means well… But either way, she makes for good dinner table conversation.

it’s unreal!

I can’t believe it. Today is the second day in a row that I have had *gasp* the back window open! It’s actually warmer outside than it is inside!

Crazy December.

Of course, I’m not complaining. This is good for me, it seems every time the temperature takes a drop, I get sick. When I was really sick not long ago was when we had the ice storm and I was so upset I missed nearly all of it. But even that was unreal - it was in the 60’s and then the next day we’ve got an ice storm.

We just need one good snow so I can take some pictures, Elijah and Steve can play in it (lol), and then it needs to go far far away so I can keep my health. :)

Here are some of the pictures Steve took when all the ice was out:

his new favs

When Elijah was a really little baby, we’re talking brand-new to a few months old, his favorite song was Toby Keith and Willie Nelson’s Beer for my Horses. I am sure this is because right before he was born, Steve obtained that cd and played that song constantly.

E’s now three years old and he’s gotten some new favorites lately. In fact, he often asks me to play these. If I can’t play them (don’t have the ipod or am not near the computer), he sometimes cries.

His first favorite right now is:

It Ain’t Me, Babe; Johnny Cash with June Carter Cash

It’s so cute, he laughs when the song starts then sings along, repeating the last two words of each line and then on the chorus, “no, no, no, BABE.”

Usually after that song ends, he yells, “fire song!!”

I think he really likes Johnny Cash. Or maybe it’s the horns that are in both songs?

And when that song (Ring of Fire) ends, he always wants to hear some “Elbis”:

Yup, Moody Blue! That’s my current phone ringer, too, maybe that’s why he likes that one so much.

SO… just thought you all might like to know that. :)

But… it’s not even 11am yet…

So, here I am sitting outside Panera Bread Co, using their wi-fi, trying to decide what to do.

Those same people that call me for all their computer problems had me fix their internet this morning. As I figured, their free-standing 2Wire went down for some reason and the guys who moved the office back to the original location failed to properly connect the DSL modem and didn’t even hook up the router, so the other computer was offline, too. They only moved the office instead of me because when they did that was when I was laid up on my back. Either way, just a bit of moving cables to their proper locations, hooking back up the router, “trashing” the 2Wire, hooking up the other computer wirelessly again, and I was done! Only 45 minutes. I think that’s a new record. Usually I’m there for hours. :)

So now… I have to meet a guy at our tv equipment stuff at 4. That leaves me 5 hours until then. I have no idea what to do.

I could go get Elijah and then drop him back off at my in-laws’ when it’s time to come back up here but that’s another 60 miles of driving, an hour or more of drive time that I didn’t originally plan on.

Or maybe I could go play around with our -working- tv equipment. I have some DVDs I’m supposed to be making…

Or maybe I could go Christmas shopping… Too bad I mostly need gift cards from here on out. Heh.

Or maybe I could go see if my new NIC has been delivered yet and fix my own internet…

Or maybe I could go home and prepare some packages I’m supposed to be mailing this week.

Or… maybe… I could do all of that!!! :P

Happy 11am, everyone!

Can’t beat 50¢!

New Poster

Here’s E showing off his new Cars movie poster. I got it for only 50¢ at our local rental place! They sell all the posters for that price. They were having a big DVD sale yesterday and I was in there twice (LOL). The first time I bought four DVDs and then asked about the poster since I noticed it was no longer in the window. Only 50¢, baby, 50¢. I went back later without the kid and got four more DVDs… movies for Mommy and Daddy, lol. He was running like a crazy child in there earlier so I couldn’t concentrate, he even had the owners rolling in laughter as he tried to hide from me behind and under the counter.

Well now I’m just babbling. But I had to just tell you all how awesome that movie poster deal is. It was so easy to make the kid happy and it took him all of two seconds to point out all the characters. :)

wonder pets?

A few minutes ago, Elijah came to me and said, “Pleaaaaaase, watch Wonder Pets? Pleaaaassssseeee!?!?!?” I had to sigh and say okay since I had not been proactive and the show was already starting.

Ahem.

I. Hate. This. Show.

Now, if you have never heard of this, it’s called Wonder Pets! and it’s about three baby animals, a guinea pig, a duckling, and a turtle, that go around saving other baby animals that are in trouble. Sounds cute… but… ev.er.y.thing they say is in a sing-song voice and/or part of a song AND in baby-talk. It drives me freaking crazy.

The animation is kinda scary, too, the animals look almost real but the rest of it is more like a drawing. It’s kind of freaky, really.

But Elijah loves it. I told him he could watch it if he sat down on the couch and he’s been there the whole time, the last 15 minutes, with his “BobBob” (Spongebob) blankey, absorbed in the show. Just enamored. Now he’s starting to discuss the show with himself. The Wonder Pets just saved a baby reindeer and he’s probably remembering the Go, Diego, Go episode he just watched where they saved a bunch of reindeer and Santa’s sleigh and Santa, blah, blah, blah. I wasn’t too happy about that - we don’t “do” Santa and flying reindeer in this household - but the kid loves the show so I let it slide this time.

The biggest problem with this show? The stupid songs get stuck in my head!!

Linny… Tuck… and Ming-Ming, too!

Oh, well. He likes it, I guess that’s what is important. Especially since I will only be subjected to it occasionally, when I am too slow to turn off the tv or change the channel before it comes on.

Why do I feel like I’ve written this post before??
