spoken for

hmmm… what?

Spoken For = Tractor Parts?

So this is kind of funny. I’m sitting here catching up on my email and I come across this email, sent to my domain-registering-email-address, nonetheless. (I only use that address for WHOIS information.)

Hello,

My friend and I have been working very hard on his site
tractorpartsunltd.com. We’ve noticed that your site spoken-for.org is similar to ours
and we would really appreciate a link from your site.

If you are interested in a link exchange, please send us the link to
the URL where our link can be found.

Here is the HTML code for our link.

We appreciate your help. If you have any questions please don’t
hesitate to e-mail us.

Cheers,

Abby Krahn

I apologize if this message was sent, in error, to the wrong person.

Those links are not clickable on purpose, of course. But I’m looking at their site and I’m wondering why in the world they’d think our sites are related, except for the fact that my husband and three-year-old both love tractors.

Yes, I realize this is most likely spam, out to get links from any domain they can. I do get emails of this nature quite often, spammers asking for link exchanges. However, something about this one is different from the others. I’m not sure yet what it is. Maybe it’s the fact that they apologize if the message was sent to the wrong person, or maybe it’s because they don’t ask me to go fill out some form like I believe all the others have, maybe it’s because the WHOIS says that this site’s been around for almost nine years now (which is kind of strange, since the subject of the email was “Brand New Website”). Or maybe it’s because the site is related to something that we actually have many conversations about in this house, rather than things like penis enlargement, breast enhancements, or even mortgages.

Oh well. I emailed them back from a throw-away email address and told them that if they want a link on my site they can purchase one here (through Text Link Ads). Only that was three or more days ago and there’s been no response… I guess they only want free links, lol.

LOL, what a joke. Although that is quite a coincedence.
Hmm, interesting obeservations. Yeah, kinda funny that they apologized… a spammer - apologizing? Hmm.. strange.
haha, that’s funny. When you go to the link, does it look like those advertising sites (spammer sites)?
