hmmm… what?

So, the Grammy Awards just went to pot.

Not that I ever take much stock in those stupid award shows, but the Grammy Awards have just gone down in my book.* Just how in the world could the Dixie Chicks win anything at all? They must have bought their way in, that has to be it. Seriously, since that fateful day… I don’t know about your radio stations but the stations here just simply do not play their stuff anymore. In fact, we are so Dixie-sheltered that I didn’t even know they had this new album out.

It’s bought, I tell you, it’s bought.

Okay, that is the Sunday rant brought to you by me.

* I didn’t even watch the stupid thing. I got home 10 minutes before it was over. Steve was watching, however, and filled me in. He’s horrified.
Oh, yeah. We used to really like the Dixie Chicks. Used to. Not anymore.

You are so wrong in saying that the Dixie Chicks bought their way in. They have as much right to free speech as you do in posting this blog. Are you saying you have the right to free speech but others don’t. Sounds like are one of the pigs in the book “Animal Farm”.

No, did I say that? No, I don’t think I did. Thanks.

Oh, yeah, and people need to learn what sarcasm is. I don’t really think they bought their way in. Please.

Well, I was enjoying the Grammys, however, first they came on with the Dixies Chicks singing live. FIRST OFFENSE! I have in my CD files about 3-4 Dixie Chicks Collections. I am a country western fan and always enjoy their talent. SHUT UP AND SING!!! Well, I couldn’t take it. In protest, (I have a nice warm fire burning in my fireplace in California) I tossed one of my CD’s by the Dixie Chicks into the fire. PROTEST! Ok, continued watching the Grammys. Next, they came up for a nomination (Ooops, burned another one) Continued watching Grammys, and heaven forbid, best Country album, are you listening to the public folks? There went another CD. I now burned 3 CD’s by the Dixie Chicks in my fireplace. My protest and objection to not listenting to middle America. I do have to say that the Dixie Chicks smelled a bit in my fireplace. Give me Carrie Underwood anytime. Toss the Dixie Chicks into POP or something!

    SHUT UP AND SING!!!!!!!!!!

@ Val — just because you haven’t heard they have a new cd doesn’t change that it exists and it is amazing. The album is so honest and just great. They deserve all of the awards they’ve gotten.

@ Pam — really get over it. They are people, just like you and me, and they have a right to express themselves in whatever form they want. You burning their cds is showing your close mindedness and probably how brain washed you are.

I’m sorry if I offended you, Jamie. I hope you still love me! :)

I realize that my knowing or not knowing about the cd is irrelevant in the scheme of things. But it is true that their music is not really played around here.

@ Val — you didn’t offend me. Sometimes I do the same thing. Why did they win…I’ve never even heard that song/album whatever and then I remember that I’m not the only one that matters (sadly :P). You should give the new album a listen though. I haven’t been a huge Chicks fan in the past but I really like this one!

All of this Dixie Chicks drama is grist for my songwriter’s mill, starting with this Dixie Chicks dissin’ dittie:

Merle Hasn’t Lost His Fightin’ Side
    Dr BLT
words and music by Dr BLT (c)2007
    http://www.drblt.net/music/MerleVeryLast.mp3

    Then came:

Playin’ Politics with the Dixie Chicks
    Dr BLT
words and music by Dr BLT (c)2007
    http://www.drblt.net/music/DixieChicks.mp3

and now, after swearing they were Not Ready to Make Nice, I wrote and recorded this:

    Not Ready to Make Rice
    Dr BLT
words and music by Dr BLT (c)2007
    http://www.drblt.net/music/MakeRice.mp3

    Bring it on, Dixie Chicks!
