hmmm… what?
The other day, I had time to kill, so I thought I’d look at Blockbuster for something I’ve been wanting for years…
Robin Hood was always my favorite Disney movie and I have been waiting and waiting for it to finally get out of their stupid “vault.” Finally, it’s here. Yay!
Only, they didn’t have it at Blockbuster! Not new, not used, nothing. I had Elijah with me and he kept picking up movies that he wanted. I had decided I was going to let him get one so he’d have something to watch while I messed with the Avid while doing more waiting. However, he kept picking up movies we already have…. Curious George, Over the Hedge, etc. I kept trying to get him to choose Bambi, he likes deer and bunnies, but he wouldn’t have it.
So we left and went to Walmart (yes, the first time in months) and I found it there. Of course, this wasn’t before Elijah spotted a two-pack of Ice Age and Ice Age 2 and started yelling, “Elephant movie! Elephant movie!” I let him hold it with the intentions of putting it back the second he lost interest in it, but he never did. In fact, when I finally found Robin Hood, he kept telling me, “No!! Put it back! Put it back!” Silly boy. So I told him, “It’s MAMA’S movie and I am NOT putting it back!” So there.
So yes, once again, I spent too much money on DVDs. Of course, it is to my credit that I don’t do this on a weekly, or even bi-weekly basis, only once every couple of months. I guess I can handle that. Robin Hood was $20 or $21 and the Ice Age two-pack was $25. Not bad really, I guess, when considering that I made note in Blockbuster that they wanted $17 for Ice Age and $22 for Ice Age 2.
The Ice Age movies are… okay, I guess. I don’t like all the evolutionary ideology and such in there but E doesn’t understand any of that yet and Steve thinks they are hilarious. I do love the squirrel. Poor little guy, always trying for that acorn, but it just stays out of reach. In other words, not the movies I would ideally like to spend my money on, but they’ll do for now I guess. I would also like to get Bambi and probably Peter Pan eventually. The older Disney movies are the best. (Except for Bedknobs and Broomsticks or Mary Poppins, those are just creepy in my opinion.)
So here we sit watching the movie now. I put it on when E was in the bathroom, so he couldn’t see what I was putting on. But once he got in here, he’s been pretty much mesmerized and is even laughing at the appropriate parts and making comments about “the fox,” “the bunnies,” “the rooster,” or even “that nasty snake.”
Of course, maybe I need to tone it down a bit. It’s been years since I’ve seen this movie but apparently I know all the lines and songs by heart. Hoo-da-lolly, hoo-da-lolly, golly what a day! :)

I’ve never seen that movie. Or Bambi. Or Peter Pan. Or Dumbo.. I guess the time has come for me to become a kid again and watch some of the children’s classics…Ice Age, too.. Although, I suppose if I had children I’d already be “in tune” with this kind of stuff.
