hmmm… what?

Spam Blogs

Ugh. I am SO tired of spam blogs. I don’t mean a few ads, either text or Google-type, or even a sponsored post here and there. I mean when I think, “oh, I’ll see what so-and-so’s up to lately,” only to find the site is covered in nothing but PayPerPost buttons and “disclosures,” tinyurls to affiliate links, and every entry is an obvious spam entry… and it takes you three or four pages of posts to finally find one that’s not.

Gah, I hate that. Talk about annoying.

If you turn off java script it makes life a lot easier. You can do it without changing your browser settings through a proxy site. A lot of the fashion blogs I look at are 3/4 ads…including TALKING ads…grrr

I would have to agree. It is very annoying. If I go to a blog and it’s covered in that, I make a note of it and don’t go back!

It is very annoying, as that isn’t the purpose of a blog. People are just searching for an easy way to earn some cash.

Overload of spam is annoying, not to mention the tiny ones. Everyone hates spam!

Don’t they have rules against that? I joined a pay post program, but I didn’t like what they wanted me to do, so I rejected it. They wanted five posts done five days in a row for a subject I knew nothing about.

    Spam = Lameness
Its really annoying… First they’re in your mail, then on sites, and now on blogs!

I can’t friggin stand the PPP posts anymore. It’s like, these people don’t even care about the things they’re writing about, and the readers care even less. I want to know what’s going on with you, not you’re lame ways of making money.

PPP is a real bad idea. Where is the credibility in that?

Got some adsense on my site. After reading this post I will think twice about how I place the ads :)

@ Chris - I usually surf with Java on, I hadn’t thought about turning it off unless I get to an incredibly annoying site. But then I usually just leave anyway, lol. But you’re right, it does save headache. I use Adblock for FireFox, too, so I thankfully don’t see a lot of stuff. And I completely agree with you - talking ads are the worst, they are of the devil!! I’m glad I don’t have to see and hear those ones with the bee sounds, too, I hate those!

@ Amanda - I have a PPP account, too. I signed up in the very beginning, not understanding what exactly they were wanting. Of course, like you, after seeing what they wanted, I got out of there. Heh. But I don’t know what all their rules are. I’d not be surprised to find out they don’t care!

@ Thomas - no worries about Adsense! You know, some stuff is okay. Afterall, I have Text Link Ads here on my sidebar, but those are pretty inconspicuous, imo. Then my posts older than 30 days have some adsense across the top and bottom of the post, if I remember correctly, and even that is not shown to logged in users.

I have no problem with ads if done tastefully, obviously, but gah, I’m just so sick of the posts about, “oh, if I were going to get plastic surgery I’d go to so and so, even though they’re all the way across the world from me!” And it being every post! Not to mention those tinyurls for the affiliates for programs the bloggers use. As if I can’t just Google it if I want to anyway. If I want to click your link and give you credit if I sign up, I will, however, hiding your URL in a tinyurl is not going to keep me from not giving you credit if I don’t want to.

I find it annoying also and make sure I never visit that blog again. I am seeing more and more people though putting their blogs into categories on websearch engines and blog sites that are a total misrepresentation. Since when did sales fit into an art/fine art category! grrrr.

As Chris mentioned above, I don’t like talking ads either that start jabbing automatically.

As for PPPs that are done incorrectly, I am guessing majority of the blogosphere is jumping on the opportunity to make as much money as possible in any manner?
