Your refund for ICANN Fee overpayment

Just got an email from GoDaddy:

Dear Valerie,

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN®) recently agreed to reduce their Registrar Transaction Fee from $.25 to $.22. What does this mean for you?

Good news. You have been credited $.03/yr for each domain name you registered or renewed dating back to July 1, 2006* — $.45 has been placed into your Go Daddy® account with this customer number: xxxxxxx.

Your in-store credit will be applied to your purchases at GoDaddy.com® until it’s gone or for up to 12 months, whichever comes sooner. If you have any questions, please contact a customer service representative at 480-505-8877.

As always, thank you for being a Go Daddy customer.

Sincerely,

Bob Parsons
CEO and Founder
GoDaddy.com

Yay. Let’s go out and celebrate, shall we?

Funny thing is.. they are holding your refund money hostage… unless you want to by *from them* in the next 12 months.. otherwise they’re just gonna keep the money!

I got less than that on one account, so ice cream’s on you!

Hmmm, [remembers massive toothache], ok, movie tickets are on you!

I got totally ripped off. They didn’t give me anything! I should have single digit dollar amounts if that is the case, lol.

Hope you’re doing well, Val! *hugs* -C

@ DrTweeker - very true, hadn’t thought of it that way. But I guess there’s no good way around it. It would be nearly pointless for them to send me $.45 in PayPal and probably counter-cost-productive to send a check.

@ Bes - heh. Heh. Heh. lol.
You get that plane ticket and I will buy the movie lol

@ GlassHoppah - maybe yours will come later, maybe they’re being done in batches or something? And yes, doing well, glad to hear from you, :)

Nice of them to make it retroactive.
