Mostly, the craziness in my life is thanks to my silly little boy, but you all knew that already. Yesterday, I was on the cell phone with Sheila and the regular phone with a few people at my old college (where she plans to attend in the fall) trying to figure out some of the crap they fed her. E took this as his cue to go absolutely psycho, I guess because he wasn’t the center of attention anymore. This happened several times throughout the day with various phone calls.

And today, too. A friend of mine called and in the few minutes I talked to her, E decided he was going to just go crazy, absolutely crazy. He popped a handful of gum in his mouth – he’s never had gum before – and since he had so much, I told him to spit it into the trashcan. One piece, okay, I can handle that, but a mouthful? I didn’t need him with a mouthful of gum. He looked right at me and swallowed it.

Add this to a stunt he pulled earlier in the day. I was in the other room when he started yelling, “Mommy! Mommy! Help me!” I came into the living room to see him climbing up the entertainment center. All I can figure was that he started to mess with the remote again and turned off the satellite system but didn’t know how to get his precious Wonder Pets back. I almost had a heart attack when I saw that, too, because not only would it have been very bad had the entertainment center fallen on him, but I had a lilac candle burning up top.

Need I even mention my experience in the scrapbooking store today?

However, there’s one thing that still has me smiling… We were leaving the post office today and a woman was walking up with her hands full. Naturally, I stopped to hold the door for her, but this time suggested to Elijah that he hold the door open. He stood there and held the door for that woman and another who left the post office right after. The first woman said “thank you, young man!” And the look on her face was priceless when Elijah yelled, “you’re welcome!!”
