The day I glued myself to… myself.
So guess what I did Saturday?
Yeah, I glued myself to myself! My left thumb and first two fingers along with some drywall mud and paint. No longer lives the little piece of the wall that popped out of its proper home when our bedroom was finished in 2003. No longer will I try to “fix” anything around here with my “Val methods.” Usually they’re sure-fire, but apparently I’ve lost my touch.
I had to run my fingers under warm water for about 10 minutes until long after the drywall mud had melted away and I could finally get my fingers apart despite the fact that I was left with dried glue and paint on me. Lightly stroking Elijah’s cheek a few minutes later I got a look that was only like the time I was wearing one of those teeth whitener strips and, while pouring him some juice, sneezed and sent the strip flying to the floor. Only this time, he laughed and squealed after the initial shock instead of nearly bursting into tears.
Besides having my fingers stuck to one another, the worst part was having it under my fingernails. I had thoughts running through my mind while the water was running… Oh, crap, I’m going to have to drive out to their house like this… Ugh, how am I going to direct and edit tomorrow? I hope I don’t have to take Elijah to the dentist like this! Yeah, scary!
Ah, but blessed shower, by the time my shower this morning was finished, all traces of the glue were gone. Sweet release. :)
Yes, yes, I know, just another adventure in Val Land! And, no, no pictures! AND, for the record… finger nail polish remover without acetone does not help, rubbing alcohol only seems to help with the paint, I did not try the gasoline my brother-in-law suggested, and… when told that their wife glued their fingers together, husbands always assume the worst… He was assuming I completely demolished and tore up the wall!
