stupid politicians
There needs to be some reform, the people need to cry out to the politicians: STOP FREAKING CALLING ME! It’s driving me nuts. I’m getting calls all the time for all the candidates. Computers calling me with speeches. People calling me with surveys. Computers calling me with surveys.
We’re on no-call lists, why is it the politicians can get around that? It’s not right. We signed up because we want to be left alone not because we want to be contacted by crazy politicians fifteen times a day.
Why am I answering the calls? A few reasons:
1. If I let it ring, Elijah gets it anyway
2. If there’s no callerID, how am I to know it’s not someone calling about my candles? People call for that with the ID blocked all the time. I’m not going to take the chance by not answering it.
3. If calls are forwarded to my cell phone, the number shows (unless it’s blocked) but never the name unless they’re in my phone address book.
Finally, you’re danged if you do, danged if you don’t. If you don’t answer, they keep trying you back anyway, your number gets re-added to the list. If you answer then hang up, same thing.
I could just leave my phone off the hook, but then we’re back to the issue with people calling about candles.
I know I rant about this at every election. But it really does drive me crazy. I don’t care WHO the politician is, if I support them or not, I don’t want to be called! I don’t have time energy, or interest, to be listening to a five minute speech about why we should vote for them. Don’t we get enough of this on TV and in the mail and when we drive down the roads on the billboards and on road signs? Do we really have to be called, too?
Maybe I’ll just start bugging the Attorney General’s office about this, I think they’re the one in charge of no-call lists and complaints. If they get enough people complaining about political calls driving them nuts, maybe they’ll change the policy that allows them to be exempt from the law. Of course, there’s plenty of non-profits I could complain about, too…
Ooh, maybe I should just get rid of our phone altogether, get satellite internet instead of DSL, and just use my cell phone. Hmmm. :P
Furthermore, why does every political party think I’m a part of them? Where’d they get that idea? I never joined one and don’t plan to…
