I think it’s been raining for about 14 or 15 hours now. They said we’re going to get about 5 inches by Wednesday.
Let me be the first to say:
Ugh.
I took a picture of the front yard but it didn’t really look all that great so let’s just suffice it to say that my front yard now has several ponds in it and I know the backyard’s even worse. There’s rivers and ponds in my neighbor’s front yard. There’s rivers in my basement. I almost fell on my butt while doing laundry. I’m avoiding going down there. This house is old and Steve has done (successful) work to keep the water from our other neighbor’s yard from soaking into the basement but when we get a lot a lot a lot of rain, it seeps in anyway. In less than an hour’s time, the water in the basement this morning had tripled. And it seems to me that it takes entirely too long to get to the drain.
I think it’s finally done storming, though, so that’s good. It means the satellite works and I can turn the computers and internet back on. It’s just a yicky day, I already cleaned the kitchen and did laundry, I don’t feel like doing anything else, haha. Maybe later. :)
I just hope the rain stops after today and tomorrow…
We’ve gotten quite a bit of rain recently but nothing like you are talking about. My parents used to have a flood in their basement when it rained for hours on end. I hope it stops/stopped raining so you don’t have so much of a mess!
Time for a sump pump!
Water in the basement are no fun! We’ve had sun for the last days - I’m sending it right over to you, we could take some rain so this old snow could melt already ;)
Aww, I hope it stops. Rain is good in moderation. I hope the amount of water [flooding] doesn’t lead to anyone getting hurt.
