hmmm… what?
Here’s a magnolia tree I saw in town:

Talk about beautiful! I was really impressed with it’s fullness and size. There are some I’ve seen that are just as big but have hardly any flowers.
Here’s my magnolia tree:

Mine’s obviously younger. We planted it maybe the second year we lived here. It was just a stick then. Seriously. Ha.
So the other day we got caught outside by Neighbor Lady and as we stood there talking to her, she was asking us if the magnolia was a tree or a bush, or what. Well, duh, it’s a magnolia, it’s a TREE. “Oh, well then,” she says, “you should have cut off the lower branches when it was smaller.”
Uh, lady, mind your own magnolia!
Okay it’s just a small rant. I get tired of her telling us what to do, how to garden; especially when our plants are clearly thriving.
I wonder if she wonders why she hasn’t seen me since probably August 2007 or before, even…

If she had such a problem with the way you gardened, she should’ve done it herself! Still… I luled when I saw that big tree and scrolled down to see your little baby.

Naw, she may spend more time at it but apparently Steve is better at it. Our stuff is just fine. :P
I think I failed to mention, though, that first magnolia isn’t hers, it’s just a random one. She doesn’t have one. :P

having 5 acres on which we have planted a number of things, I can appreciate all the work you have put into the magnolia plant and how it is thriving so well! Yay!!!!!

Well, she does have a good point, although you guys don’t seem to mind that there are some low branches, and it looks good to me either way. She must have been one of those people that take herself -and her gardening- pretty seriously. ;D

No, we want the low branches! Fills it out more. She does take things way too seriously.
