hmmm… what?

Taking Flight & Scraplifting

What’s a scraplift? From what I understand (ha) it’s when you take someone else’s layout and make it your own with your own photos, etc. Yeah, that kind of thing is usually frowned upon, but digital scrapbookers seem to enjoy it and I’ve seen many challenges of this sort. This, however, was my first.

So, to participate in Songbird Avenue’s May 2008 scraplift challenge, I chose a layout from the “list” and came up with this:

Scrapbook: May 2004

The photo is one of my favorites of Elijah from just under four years ago! It was before I went digital, so it was shot in black & white 35mm film. I just love that photo, even with the imperfections put in by the scanner I had at the time. He was sitting on a tree stump chair out at my in-laws’ house, he wasn’t quite a year old at the time, about ten months old. I thought, though, that I might do some of the stuff from when he was really really little and such for his baby book. I’ve not added much to it at all in the past few years (believe it or not).

What’cha think? I do okay? :)

More postage coming later, but I tell you what, it was all I could do to come up with that layout there. I am so completely exhausted. Probably moreso than ever before. It’s been non-stop running around since Friday and my body’s about to come in for a crash landing. So goodnight. :)

I think you did well! I love that style of graphics, and with a bird you can never go wrong as far as I’m concerned. ;) I really like your site layout too! (sorry if I spam your comment field, I got an error in Firefox twice and am trying in IE now)

That’s awesome - you totally have to somehow teach me how to digital scrapbook! Sierra needs to do a family collage for daycare in a week from now, and I’d like to do a digital page for her, then print it out at like Walmart or something. Then, I want to do Brooke’s whole baby scrapbbok in digital - Sierra’s is done with paper, but with the kids around now I can’t leave 1/2 finished projects laying around anymore - so digital would be much better.

Wow that looks great! Maybe I should learn how to do this!

Yes it looks really good; it’s very clever how you did that. I don’t know much about digital scrapbooking myself, although one of my friends likes doing traditional scrapbooking.
