This will be my final LBL post. ;-)
Wednesday we headed home. The trip was short. A good one, but short. I could use another, but I guess I will have to wait.
Most of the morning was spent packing up and organizing things into the vehicles. Really, I’m surprised how my brother and sister-in-law got all their stuff in their car, we had such a time getting everything into our Jeep. We had laid down two seats in the back and we still had to stuff it all in. Maybe my brother’s car has a cartoon trunk. You know, bottomless, compacts anything put into it.

Monday morning was spent mostly inside Land Between the Lakes.
You may not know this (I didn’t prior to our trip) but LBL is a state park and not one single soul lives inside that area. In a nutshell, the Cumberland and the Tennessee Rivers were dammed up, creating Kentucky Lake on the West and Lake Barkley on the Right. LBL is the area between, basically a peninsula of sorts. Without going into a lot of detail, from what I understand, the rivers were dammed up when the government just got tired of all their flooding and figured damming up was the way to go. Many people were forced to sell their land to the government and they were all moved out of the area. Some took their houses and other buildings with them while others left them there.

We’re back!!
What? You didn’t even know I was gone? Yeah, my bad. My blog has been on auto-pilot for the last six or so days. We’ve been on vacation!
I didn’t want to spent an incredible amount of time talking about the trip, but I have so many photos I would like to post. So here you have day one.
We left Sunday (Mother’s Day) around 8.30 in the morning, aka the latest hour of the day I’ve ever left for a vacation on. But since the trip is only something like four and a half hours, we didn’t feel obligated to get up too early.

So, a couple of days ago I ranted in a protected post about how we’d had a trip to Virginia planned for next month but it fell through. I am quite disappointed that we’re not going to be going as I was really looking forward to it, but I’ll live. Instead, Steve has come up with a “replacement vacation.” We won’t be gone as long as we would have and it’s not nearly as far, nor is it a big city - but I think we’ll hae an awesome time. Anything to keep me from thinking about that craft fair I’ll be missing because of the Virginia trip…
We will be going to Kentucky Lake with my brother and sister-in-law and possibly Christine and Rich! This is something we’ve been talking about doing forever with my bother and sil. Now we’re finally going to do it.

So, yes, I am home now. However, all of my yesterday was spent traveling home. Seriously. Four states in about twelve hours because, apparently, my brother is incapable of taking the same route home that he took to go somewhere. First of all, we slept in entirely too late, but thankfully not too late for check-out. He informs me as we’re getting packed up that we are taking a different route and that he knows exactly what he’s doing. Riiiiight.

The yellow was our route out there on Tuesday night, the green was pretty much what we took going home. Yes, it was nutty.
