what a day!

It all started with that earthquake. Yup, then there was an aftershock that made me dizzy! Elijah didn’t even notice it, though. I was unable to sleep after the earthquake, so I’ve been up since about 4:30am. I’m surprised I’m still going.

Then it was finish up the graduation party inserts for my sister-in-law, ship a candle order, stop by the bank, get some fuel (for a blasted $3.99 a gallon, nonetheless), then meet said sister-in-law and another one an hour south for lunch.

to answer your question…

Recently I had a post that talked about what a sweetheart my boy can be. Jessie’s comment really made me laugh though. Yes, E can be an absolute sweetheart, but he is also still a holy terror. My morning, for example.

It all started last night when I went to bed, suddenly I couldn’t breathe and I knew I was getting sick again, already, less than a week after getting rid of the last sinus infection. I didn’t sleep well and this morning when Elijah woke up and called upstairs as usual, “Mama, come down here,” I said, “why don’t you come up here for a little while?” He said “ok,” I think… but I fell asleep and he didn’t come upstairs.

little boy blue

Well, I’ve upgraded to WordPress 2.5… not sure if I like the back end now or not. I know I don’t like where they moved the categories or that the width is not fluid now (got lots of unused white space here on my laptop).

So, anyway. Elijah’s been sick. It all started last Wednesday when I got sick, but my fever broke basically overnight and the flu symptoms were gone by the next day and replaced with cold-like symptoms. It was probably Friday, I guess, that Elijah got the same thing and just as quickly, it was gone. He and I went out for breakfast on Saturday and did a little shopping. On Sunday, we all went to church.

marriage proposal

Easter morning Elijah is totally in that OMG LYKE I LOVE YOU MOMMY stage. Every day he comes up to me and we have this conversation:

Elijah: Mommy, I love you
Mommy: I love you, too, Buddy
Elijah: Mommy, you’re prrrrrretty
Mommy: Thank you
Elijah: Mommy, you’re beautifullllll
Mommy: Thank you
Elijah: Mommy, you’re gorrrrgeous
Mommy: Thank you, Bud
Elijah: I love you, Mommy!

Yes, it’s adorable, but let’s cut it short, eh? Haha

So the other day he’s sitting in the recliner while I’m putting his socks and shoes on and he says, “Mommy, do you want to get married again?”

Mommy: Get married again? Who am I gonna marry?
Elijah: Ummmmm, Aunt Sarah!
Mommy: (really lol-ing) No, I’m not going to marry Aunt Sarah.
Elijah: Will you marry me?

Some day he’ll understand, but until then, that’s my baby!

little fisherman

While I was gone this weekend, even though it wasn’t but for 28 hours, it seems my boys had a lot of fun together, and I missed out. First, they were completely unable to cook for themselves and I came home to the dishes all where I left them - all clean, except for a handful still in the sink - and some clues as to what they did eat… McDonald’s, Huddle House, Chinese… Craziness.

They also went fishing Saturday. It surprises me when Steve does something like that with Elijah because, as we all know, Elijah can be quite a handful and the thought of that kid with hooks and fishing knives (and whatever else is used to go fishing with) should strike terror into the heart of any adult. But not only did they go but Elijah was the only of the two of them to catch anything. He caught a good sized blue gill, Steve say about four to six inches in length.

Sh-Boom

My current ring tone is Sh-Boom by the Chords, you might know it from the movie Cars:

I love that song. :)
Elijah, however, really loves that song!

Every time my phone rings, he starts dancing in the same way and it cracks me up every time. He’s also been known to get a little upset when I answer the phone.

So this morning just to fool with him, I played the whole song from the computer and caught his dancing on video. Please ignore his outfit, he was still in his PJs and those pants are, yes, a bit too short for his long legs.

The really funny thing though was that when I was playing the video on the computer after taking it from the camera, he started dancing again. At times he was in sync with himself on the computer screen, it was almost like having twins. Almost freaky. :)

Did you tooted?

E Boy So my kid has been obsessed with bodily functions lately, and it’s kind of driving me nuts. A couple of weeks ago, I told him to get something out of his room then return to me. He stopped in his doorway and said, “wait, I got to tooted.” Then he “tooted” (farted, yes, I can say it) and then laughed his little head off.

As much as it’s gotten old and stale and can be embarrassing in public, I totally have to try and not to laugh every time because I think it’s hilarious. It’s mostly hilarious because it’s always in the past sense, always “tooted” never “toot” or “tooting.”

On the upside, I have him trained well. The other night when Steve faked a “toot” noise just to get Elijah going, well, it sort of went like this:

Elijah: Daddy! Did you tooted?

Steve: No, Mommy did it!

Elijah: Nooooo, Mommy didn’t tooted. Mommy doesn’t tooted. Ladies don’t tooted.

HEEHEEE :)

That’s right, boys!

The steps are broken!

As you all know, we’re STILL remodeling this stupid house, right? When we bought the place, forever and a day ago, our friends helped us with a work day, less than a week before our wedding and move-in date. Looking back now, hardly anything was really accomplished (and what was has been changed since then) but it seemed like a lot at the time.

One thing that was only half finished, however, were the stairs from the middle (dining) room that goes up to the half story (our bedroom). The stairs themselves were fine, but the one side that isn’t up against a wall was completely open (so the stairs had a free-flying feel). Two of our friends took to drywalling that but it was never finished. They left open a square opening and we’ve always kept construction and electrical items underneath the stairs.
