his 15 minutes of fame...

I’ll get back to Christmas later but I was unloading my pics and realized I forgot to post this.

Yup, right there where he apparently loves to be, …surrounded by girls! This was the 21st when his choir sang in church. He had told me a few days before that that he only goes to choir to see his girlfriend (his words, I swear!). The TV was on and he was playing and heard the word “boyfriend” on TV and he just stopped and turned to me and said, “Autumn’s my girlfriend.” Cracked me up. Unfortunately for him and his parents and both sets of grandparents and one aunt and one uncle, though… the little girlfriend was not there to see this night. I saw her one other time, though, back in October, she’s a cutie. :)

He didn’t really sing, lol. He kinda mouthed the words but I think he was in shock because he never would believe me when I kept telling him he was going to sing in church. He kept insisting they were going to sing in just choir class and Mom and Dad were NOT going to be there to see it. So I think he was surprised. :)

I think this picture was taken not long after my brother said to me, "I think he’s staring at me." I said, "so wave!" So he did and Elijah just grinned so big! It was cute. :)

We have that book at left there, it’s called Excuse Me! A Little Book of Manners. It’s a cute little book of a handful of pages and each left page presents a scenario and the right page is a lift-up flap with a photo and it says, “What do you say?” You lift the flap and there’s the proper response to the scenario, right?

Well the other night Elijah brought me the book to read to him which is funny in itself because he never does that. So we sat to read it and the first scenario (which you can see pictured if you click the book then click it again at amazon to read inside and click on excerpt) says:

Mommy says, “Do you want peas for breakfast?”

What do you say?

So I read it for him and asked him “what do you say?” He paused for a second, thinking about what to say then finally said, “PLEASE!!”

That’s my kid for you, outside the box!

Of course, I had to shatter his tiny little ego and let him know that not everyone likes peas as much as he does because when you lift the flap, the little girl is clearly disgusted with them and she says, “No thank you!”

:-P

Apparently when I get frustrated, I say, “UN-believable!” A lot of stress placed on the “un” of course!

Elijah hates this, though. He hates it when I say it and often responds with a yell of “WHAT!?” or some sort of other complaint like “UGH!” But it often works and gets him motivated. So, yeah, I’ve been known to use it quite a bit.

A couple of Sundays ago, the boys were, of course, being difficult and slow in getting ready to leave for church. I was getting pretty frustrated because, you know, I hate being late! (Not to mention I have jobs to do for which I can’t be late!)

So Steve was in the bathroom shaving and I’d finally gotten Elijah dressed and I sat back in the recliner and sighed. Elijah said, “what?”

I said, “oh, nothing, just waiting for Daddy.”

He got up from the couch, leaned towards me and said, “I’ll “unbelieveable” him.”

Then he walked (with determined purpose) over to the bathroom door and yelled, “Daddy!! UN-BELIEVABLE!!!”

His job finished, he went and sat back on the couch.

Crazy kid.

I love that song. :)
Elijah, however, really loves that song!

Every time my phone rings, he starts dancing in the same way and it cracks me up every time. He’s also been known to get a little upset when I answer the phone.

So this morning just to fool with him, I played the whole song from the computer and caught his dancing on video. Please ignore his outfit, he was still in his PJs and those pants are, yes, a bit too short for his long legs.

The really funny thing though was that when I was playing the video on the computer after taking it from the camera, he started dancing again. At times he was in sync with himself on the computer screen, it was almost like having twins. Almost freaky. :)

A certain little four-year-old boy of mine on the corner of my couch who decided he wanted to take off his shirt. He pulls his arms in… then out the neck hole. He then pulls the shirt down and off like pants. And then?

He has to put his underwear and shorts back on.

Silly boy!!

Updating this post to add that photo and the following. The photo depicts the outfit he was wearing when he pulled that little shirt-off-like-pants stunt. He always takes his shirt off that way, if he does it by himself, even though I’ve showed him countless times how to do it correctly.

Anyway, that same outfit is one my in-laws got for him for his birthday last month. He’s worn it a couple of times but I really wanted him to wear it to their house yesterday. Only, he has decided that any clothes he gets for presents are NOT to be worn under any circumstances so I have to fight him to get him to wear them. As I’m putting on his shirt I said, “yes, you will wear it. Grandma bought it for you for a present and if you wear it, you will make her very happy.”

He said, “I… but… I… I don’t want her to be happy!!!”

My little boy, he says some strange things. Today, he’s driving me crazy with prefacing everything with, “hey hey,” but he’s been known to say some pretty funny things here recently. (I’m adding to this… whenever, so just because it says “the other day” does not mean it was, in fact, “the other day.”)

A couple of weeks ago, for instance, he came running into the living room yelling, “Kasey Kahne! Kasey Kahne!” It took me a while to figure out that he wasn’t talking NASCAR, he had a candy cane in his hand and wanted me to open it for him. Where he found a candy cane in May, I still have no idea. :P

A few months ago, I told him to pick up his toys and get ready for a nap. He was on the floor gathering his farm animals and shoving them into the barn when he suddenly turned to me and said he wanted to “ask Jesus.” I asked him, “what do you want to ask Jesus?” He looked right at me, smiled, and said, “pick up my toys.”

He and Steve often argue over who drives “the orange car,” Tony Stewart or Junior. Elijah insists it’s Junior. In fact, he thinks Junior drives every car except for 24, that’s Jeff, of course.

Yesterday, I pulled two $1 bills out of my little change cup. Elijah stopped dead in his tracks as he was walking through the room, smiled really big and said, “Ooooohhhh a million dollars!!!!” Yeah, bud, I wish! I have Scrubs to thank for this one though, not much earlier we’d seen an episode where they were playing the Barenaked Ladies song, If I Had a Million Dollars.

He still loves his guitar, American Idol microphone, and Elvis:

[sorry, video removed]

When he recently cut his own hair, I had no choice but to buzz him to 1/8 of an inch. Then, reminiscent of The Little Rascals, I was teasing him all day, rubbing his head and saying, “wish I had a watermelon, wish I had a watermelon.” Later that night, he walked up to me, rubbed his own head in the same fashion and said, “I’m getting some ice cream, I’m getting some ice cream.”

Ok that’s enough randomness for today… :)
