David had a rental listing for a home. I contacted him and asked for more information about the home, and if it was possible to set up an appointment to view it. He told me he was in Michigan for work, but the property could be viewed from a drive by and "peeking through the windows." He then sent me an email containing a contract/lease agreement that needed to be signed and given back to him before anything else. I told him I would send it to him later after reading through the document. He was very pushy and expected money the next day and tried to convince me that "it is a first come first serve basis, but I am willing to take the listing off the market if i can get a partial payment." He told me to contact him by his email or phone number ([email protected]/ 1470-798-0797) when the contract was signed and ready to be returned. I told him that I was somewhat apprehensive that he was trying to scam me, and he sent a message relating to God and how "as long as he was a living breathing man with blood in his veins, he would never do such a thing." He proceeded to tell me how awful people like that are, and scammers make him look bad because he is an honest man just trying to rent his home. I decided to do a "drive by" viewing of the house and noticed a "sale pending" sign on the lawn. I wrote down the company number. I texted David and asked why there was a sign on the lawn and he responded with how he was using this company to try and sell his house since he had work in michigan, but they were doing bad business together and so he decided to go ahead and rent himself. I then called the company on the sign and they told me that a David did not own the house and that I was most likely dealing with a scammer. I have not contacted David since.
