Reader Services, of Buffalo, NY, sent unordered books charging $57. Their phone agent claimed books were an online order. I was in a rehab center after a fall, did not initally see a mail order form and thus did not order any books. Books were returned and account cancelled. | The brochure/order form stated if you did not want books, you had to respond by the date on the card (March 11). Books were sent before that date, as I returned them on March 3. This is a similar activity to Publisher’s Clearing House, receiving goods not ordered. | The form also clearly has printed that Reader Services will pay for return postage. I requested a return label, and the phone agent denied that they pay for postage, even though it is stated on their printed material. | The amount of money is insignificant, but the business practice by this company is wrong.
