My son posted an Apple watch for sale and received a text message from an "interested party" looking to purchase the watch as a gift for his girlfriend. He offered $150 over the list price, to include shipping and handling. He stated that he would send a paypal payment. An email was received that was made to appear like a paypal email, however the URL was not a paypal account. No money ever showed up in Paypal. The shipping address listed in the fake email was a Nigerian address. The scammer was obviously trying to get the item sent without any payment being sent. The scam email has the following "NOTE" attached: This PayPal payment has been deducted from the buyer’s account and has been "approved" but will not be credited to your account until the shipment reference/tracking number is sent to us for verification so as to secure both the buyer and the seller. Below are the necessary information requested before your account will be credited. Send tracking number to us or email us through this mail and our Customer security center will attend to you. As soon as you send us the shipment’s tracking number to us for security purposes and the safety of the buyer and the seller, the money will be credited to your Account. The email address listed is [email protected]
